The Railway Children's centenary celebrations

ONE hundred years after Edith Nesbit wrote the classic story, The Railway Children, actress Jenny Agutter is returning to Yorkshire to visit the scene of one of her most memorable roles.

The actress who played Bobbie in the famous 1970 film is due to visit Oakworth Station, part of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, on Sunday.

And this weekend members of the E Nesbit Society will wear Edwardian clothes as they celebrate the centenary of The Railway Children being published in The London Magazine. It appeared in book form a year later.
