The city of Pocatello issued the following news release:
Pocatello's Marshall Public Library, 113 South Garfield, is pleased to announce that September 1st marks the 130th birthday of one of Pocatello's most famous residents. Edgar Rice Burroughs, author of the Tarzan series. Moving to Pocatello in 1898, after being discharged from the Army, he purchased a downtown stationery store complete with a large newsstand and cigar counter.
