IN the Philippines, generally speaking, nothing happens by accident, except vehicular.

Somehow and somewhere down the line, there is a planner, mastermind, and operator to make things happen, whether it be party switching or turncoatism, or self-serving surveys or "praise" releases, or venomous blind items, or "curved balls," so to speak, to confuse the public, or prepare their minds for some eventuality, and others.
