POLICE carried out an international investigation after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's sons reported some of their father's books missing and possibly stolen, according to Metropolitan Police papers made public today.
Brothers Denis and Adrian Conan Doyle sought police assistance in 1946 when they discovered the books from Sir Arthur's library, which they believed should have been in storage in Crowborough, Sussex, were on display at an American college.
