Holmes collection left to library in southern England
LONDON, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- One of the biggest collections of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's memorabilia was bequeathed Friday to a library of Portsmouth, the southern English port city where the first Sherlock Holmes stories were written.
Writer and collector Richard Lancelyn Green, who died in March, left his entire collection of 20,000 items worth more than 2 million pounds (3.6 million US dollars) to Portsmouth's library because of Doyle's strong connections to the city.
