AT the risk of inviting further ridicule from some of my colleagues and regular readers, I'll reveal that this week I've been attempting to read Crime and Punishment, that fiendishly difficult and long classic novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
It's not the first time that I have attempted to get to grips with Mr Dostoevsky's exhaustive examination of social alienation, nihilism and crime and punishment. But this week I thought I'd have another go as part of my research for this column.
