The 19th-century author, commonly associated with cold, bleak landscapes, who wrote a memoir which was published in 1863 about his summer visit to godless Western Europe and money-grubbing Britain, is Fyodor Dostoevsky. His short book is titled "Winter Notes on Summer Impressions" and edition of which appeared with an introduction by Saul Bellow.
