NEW HAVEN -- Academy Award-winning actress and diehard Democrat Susan Sarandon will portray Republican First Lady Laura Bush in a reading of "Only We Who Guard the Mystery Shall Be Unhappy," at Long Wharf Theatre Oct. 25. The 7 p.m. reading, directed by Gordon Edelstein, derives from Tony Kushner's controversial new work of the same name.
The play-in-progress finds Bush reading Fyodor Dostoevsky to the pajama-clad souls of Iraqi children. It also reflects on George W. Bush's presidency.
