Authorities in St. Petersburg on 5 September unveiled a memorial plaque dedicated to hairdressers who worked during the 900-day siege of Leningrad, RosBalt reported. The plaque was placed on the Nevskii Prospekt building where the only hairdressing establishment to remain open throughout the blockade was located. At the unveiling, St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Deputy Petr Shelishch called on Petersburgers to patronize hairdressers more often, saying that "beauty is strength."
