It was surprising and inspiring to find on your editorial page of May 14 a totally worthy tribute to my favorite poet, the Belle of Amherst, Emily Dickinson.
Surprise - because one does not expect to stumble upon the great art of poetry in a hard-boiled, two-fisted, big-city newspaper. Inspiring - because that's precisely what your tribute is.
As you indicate, what an example! Only seven, of 1,775 poems, published during her lifetime. Maybe there's hope for some down-hearted, unpublished American artist who doesn't realize that fame is about to step, radiant, from the wings.
