Diana Trilling, a writer and critic whose topics were as varied as a socialite killer and D.H. Lawrence, died Wednesday. She was 91.
Trilling wrote five books and three collections of essays and reviews.
The former Diana Rubin married Lionel Trilling, a Columbia University professor, in 1929. Their intellectual circle included Irving Howe, Sidney Hook, Hannah Arendt, Saul Bellow, Mary McCarthy and Irving Kristol. Her memoir was "The Beginning of the Journey," and her two collections of criticism were "Reviewing the Forties" and "We Must March My Darlings." She also had edited two volumes on ...
