An analysis of the metaphysics and sexual politics in the work of D.H. Lawrence is presented. This includes a discussion on the judgements of Simone de Beauvoir and Kate Millet on the works of Lawrence. To Beauvoir, Lawrence represents patriarchal thought and practice in claiming that masculinity is characterized by activity, creativity, intellectualism and therefore, primary. Millet, on the other hand, views Lawrence as having a fear of women and his works aimed at keeping women under control.
