May 14--Charleston pirate Gary Dow drinks rum, owns a parrot and knows Daniel Defoe books by heart, but he still thinks "Arrr" is a cliche.

Dow, a pirate aficionado, aims to share the pirate allure with Charlestonians who walk the same streets Blackbeard and other famous sea raiders stormed through three centuries ago.
