Business grows after beer garden makeover

BUSINESS is thriving at the Daniel Defoe pub in Stoke Newington, where managers have invested 35,000 upgrading the beer garden to cater for smokers.

Manager Eamonn Doran said: "It used to be one flat surface with about six benches in it.

"It has now got a raised decking area with fencing around it, then you go down three steps to a lowered area, which is under a 15ft umbrella.

"The umbrella is equipped with heaters and lighting to make people comfortable and there is an awning over the decking to shelter smokers from the rain." Mr Doran believes the investment will prove worthwhile, especially ...
