In Luis Bunuel's film adaptation of the classic Daniel Defoe novel "Robinson Crusoe," it took 28 years for the title character to find his way off a desert island. In the real world, it took more than 15 years for a home-entertainment executive on a personal quest to find the film and make it available once again after decades out of circulation.
