IT was the Capital's most illustrious spy - no, not Sir Sean - Daniel Defoe who famously remarked that "In no city in the world so many people live in so little room as at Edinburgh".
Things today are not as tight as they were in Defoe's day but we still live and work in such close quarters that even the slightest tweak to the city landscape, from collapsed buildings to roadworks, can result in chaos.
