"I wanted to play with the idea of Carroll putting himself into the story," Merchant said.

Michael Domeny, a junior who will perform dual roles as Carroll and the Cheshire Cat, said the two parts are a first for him.

"Being two characters at the same time is a big challenge," Domeny said. "I've never played an actual person or an animal before. The hardest part has been trying to represent Carroll accurately. I feel there are a lot of expectations on these characters."
