MEMBERS of four Lewis Carroll societies (British, American, Japanese and Israeli) dispersed from Llandudno last night, dismayed by the state of the town's internationally-famous memorial to the author.

Beautifully carved out of marble, to feature the White Rabbit of the famous Alice books, the statue was erected by public subscription in 1933 and unveiled by local MP David Lloyd George - albeit with rather silly misleading wording on the commemorative plaque.

Alas, the statue became the target for mindless vandals of bizarre modern Welsh ...
