HISTORICAL documents dating back seven centuries, including Charlotte Bronte's will and William Wordsworth's marriage bond, are being stored in a new climate-controlled archive in York.

The Borthwick Institute has amassed one of Britain's most important collections of historical documents, which is now being kept in the [Pounds]6.5m facility at York University.

The archive has been moved two miles from St Anthony's Hall, the 15th century former religious guildhall in York city centre, which had been its home for more than 50 years.
