Oakland boy who drowned last week laid to rest

OAKLAND -- On Friday as Rudy Rodriguez Jr. was laid to rest, police said it appears the 14-year-old boy's drowning last week was accidental and widespread rumors that he was pushed into the public swimming pool seem unfounded.

The Oakland Tribune has learned the boy was fully clothed, and not dressed in swimwear when he was pulled from the water. In fact, his clothes were still wet when his parent's brought them home from the hospital. He did not know how to swim.
