Meeting to update teacher bargaining

OAKLAND -- The Oakland Education Association will meet at 4 p.m. today to provide a bargaining update to its members, OEA President Ben Visnick said.
The special meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at Bret Harte Middle School, 3700 Coolidge Ave., Oakland.
Oakland teachers and the Oakland Unified School District have been working to end a two-year contract dispute.
On Saturday, the union carried away a district proposal to restore a 4 percent pay cut teachers agreed to two years ago to help the troubled school district.
Health care matters, another main sticking issue, also were discussed.
