HAYWARD -- In addition to a new superintendent, the 35 public schools in Hayward will see 10 new principals this fall, an astonishing turnover caused by the largest number of retirements and resignations in about 20 years.
Of the five middle schools in Hayward, three -- Bret Harte, Cesar Chavez and Winton -- will have someone new in charge. And the principals at Ochoa and King middle schools are beginning their second years.
"You always hate to see the principals with years of experience go," said Lea Lloyd, an administrator who oversees a number of schools in South Hayward.
