REFORMS, transformation, truth, peace, and prosperity were the messages of the notables in the Year of the Dog. They were the same messages that hogged the headlines in the other years: Monkey, pig, rat, name it.

Oliver Goldsmith once wrote:

"And in that town a dog was found,

As many dogs there be,

Both mongrel, puppy, whelp, and hound,

And curs of low degree."

Simple courtesy forbids us from naming which town immediately comes to mind, though William Blake gives a hint of it:
