Chastity is the most unnatural of all sexual perversions." Aldous Huxley, who wrote this, wouldn't have been surprised by any such survey. Indeed, had monogamy been natural, restrictions imposed by marriage wouldn't have been required. Animal behaviour is governed by biological needs and multiple sexual partners create genetic variation essential for evolution. Even in the oft-quoted monogamous birds, recent DNA studies reveal that the male is often not the father and re-pairing occurs to improve reproductive choices. Human beings are no different biologically.
