A unique insight has been offered into Agatha Christie's life by the author who spent four years getting to know the Queen of Crime for a new biography

Laura Thompson launched the first comprehensive examination of Christie's life in over 20 years at the Grand Hotel, Torquay, as part of this week's Christie festival.

The seafront hotel was an apt venue as it had been the destination of choice by Agatha and Archie Christie for their honeymoon.

Laura gave a talk on her experiences writing the book, entitled Agatha Christie - An English Mystery, and expressed her thoughts on Christie.
