More than 400 people gathered under the stars at Oldway Mansion to celebrate the 70th anniversary of one of Agatha Christie's most popular novels.

The former home of the Singer family in Paignton provided a spectacular backdrop for the outdoor cinema, which was showing the classic Death on the Nile, starring Peter Ustinov.

Organisers Skylight Cinemas said Hercule Poirot's adventures in Egypt were enjoyed by the hundreds of people who came to the historic estate with their rugs and picnics.
