Happy birthday Gilliat - and many more of them.

Did you try out some choice beers?

I remembered this song called Happy Birthday after listening to papaya's offerings.

Billl, you got me pegged with King of the Hill. One of my favorites. In fact I just finished watching it.

Thanks and take a look at the Pictures thread.

Thanks Paul and I will beg forgiveness in advance for my interview response.

No beers, but I did enjoy a Wild Turkey and coke on the rocks.

btw, Your video was blocked on my side of the Atlantic.

    ... Janine ...

    My scrolling missed your "quote".

Thanks for the B day wish.
I submitted my interview, so we'll see if I was successful in transferring it.

I'm still waiting on those old book photos!

    An interview with Gilliatt:

*Why are we doing this interview thing?*
She gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse.

*Are you sure you want to do this?*
She said I had no choice.

    *Who killed Roger Rabbit?*
I believe it is the same culprit who shot J.R.

*Whose footprints would you find in the fridge?*
    A little German
    http://littlegerman.com/

    *So, how old are you?*
I have left the stream, climbed through the scrub oak and juniper, continued upward through the aspen and firs, past the tree line, topped the summit and I am beginning my descent.
    I’m 48

*If you had a personal theme song what would it be?*

*Are you male or female? *
    Male

*What makes you keep coming back?*
Camaraderie, humor and the possibility that I might acquire just a little of the scholarly wisdom possessed by so many here.

Should JBI get an + beside his name?
I know very little of this JBI other than you will lose in a battle of words. However, I always start off with a positive approach and thereby disarm him with a +

    *Which countries have you visited?*
Canada (British Columbia), Mexico, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, Austria

    *Which languages do you speak?*
    English with Texas dialect

*If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?*
    Chama New Mexico.

I took the family through Chama a few years ago, pulled over to buy a chili ristra at a roadside market, came back to the car and told the wife and boy; “We will live here someday”

    Ristras:

    *Do you have any pets?*
Yes; two dogs- Betty and Scooter and a cat - Lily

    *What makes you happy?*
Taking a walk on an overcast evening in January, blanket of snow on the ground a light breeze out of the north, dead silence and the smell of burning firewood in the air.

*What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall?*
    Achievement: The Rosetta stone

    Who is your favourite Beatle?
    George

*What makes you feel great about yourself?*
    My family

*How did you meet your significant other?*
I selected a strategically placed apartment that overlooked the community pool. From this vantage point I was able to monitor poolside activities. It so happened that one day a pool side party took place replete with watery tarts.
I grabbed my copy of Steinbeck’s “Wayward Bus”, headed down to settle into a poolside chair took my shirt off, cracked open the book and allowed the flirting to begin. The competition was fierce, but I finally reeled in a keeper.

    *Who inspires you most?*
My parents and a particular Grandfather, though all are deceased.

*What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)*
Many have told me that I am a “Jack of all trades”.
Drawing and watercolor painting, woodwork , metal work – I have built and sold a few furniture pieces. My pride and joy is a 16 foot wood and canvas canoe.
    Dabble in photography.

*What is the one thing you must do before you die?*
Live in Chama, weave ristras, sell watercolors, cactus and furniture.

    Patience

*What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?*
You guessed it; living in Chama, weaving ristras…etc…

*What method do you cherish above all others, as means to improving your life?*
A hike in a quiet wood, paddling down a creek, running and red wine.

*What one thing would you NEED to have on a deserted island if you didn't have to worry over food and water? *
    A HAM radio

*What song is in your head at the moment?*
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5yAbuYPd2k

*Which book are you reading at the moment?*
About two thirds through; “Zuni – Selected Writings of Frank Hamilton Cushing”

    *Favorite threads?*
    The Cold Ale Blokes

I enjoy reading discussions in the Poetry threads and General Literature threads. Can’t offer much since I am way out of my league.

I am currently participating in the “Name the Painting” thread.

    The Manufacture of Mozart
The Puzzle of the Socalled “Bach variations”
(The Sonata owes so much to these two threads.)

    What's your favorite sandwich?
The “Van de Reuben” and a Duvel from the Belgian Village in Moline Illinois

*What time of day do you most often find yourself on the LitNet*?
Typically evenings after work and sporadically on weekends

    Running get up

    *Favorite poem?*
“My Mind to Me a Kingdom Is” by Sir Edward Dyer

*First novel you remember reading on your own?*
It is difficult to recall between Hugo’s; “Toilers of the Sea” or Dicken’s; “Tale of Two Cities”

Recently, most have been 19th century

    *Favorite TV shows?*
    “Star Trek” TOS
    “Leave it to Beaver”
    “Andy Griffith”
    “Hogan’s Heroes”
    ”King of the Hill”
    “Twilight Zone”
    “Night Gallery”
    “The Little Rascals”

*Which Forum members would you like to meet in person if you could*?
I don’t want to start down this path for fear of leaving someone behind. There are many.

*Last words you said out loud?*
    “Is this corn dog night?”
(asked in reference to my hotel’s happy hour meal)

    *Last person you hugged/kissed?*
The wife before heading out of town

*What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?*
Architecture is my profession. My specific role is “Construction Administration”. As a construction administrator, I serve as an intermediary if you will, attempting to translate my designers flamboyant, esoteric architectural speak for the roughneck, crack showing, simple box minded contractors.

*What question would you like to ask yourself?*
Why did I just now conjure up the image of plumbers crack?

*What would you like to be if you could change your profession?*
A Chama resident selling ristras, watercolors, furniture and cactus

*Which one of the seven dwarves are you and why?*
    Sleepy

*What is your most outstanding feature?*
My forehead. It is huge. The wife refers to it as the “Hillary Step”

*If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?*
Reduce the forehead and have a defined chin. I believe Paulclem is chinless, but at least he has a sculpted beard that hides his misshapenness.

*What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?*
Watching King of the Hill re runs (comes on at 9:00 pm)

    ]*Describe your ideal day, please.*
Start off with a hike on a very cold, clear morning with heavy layer of frost or snow if we’re lucky. Return home get a fire started, sit down beside it and read for a while. Periodically step outside to smell the smoke and take in the crisp air. Sketch or do a little painting, work in the shop. Force my wife and son to read some of my bizarre posts. At evening time, I will stoke up the fire again and go for one of those evening walks I described above.

    *Favorite movie?*
Tough one, but I will go with “Cool Hand Luke”

    *Last movie you watched?
I believe it was the latest Shrek movie

    *Favorite painting?*
The first one that comes to mind is Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring”

    Bowie, yay or nay?
Yay, Jim Bowie is a Texas hero and what a knife!

*Something you want to forget but you never can?*
    The loss of my parents

If you could relive one moment in your life whenever you wanted to, what would it be?

Any one of our typical family trips down to the Texas coast to visit that “particular grandfather” I mentioned above. My father flying down I-35 in our sky blue ’69 Ford LTD with a 390 four barrel carburetor listening to the static on his CB radio.

What was the best thing that happened to you during this year?
Can the best be the worst?
My company sent me to northern Illinois for several months. I am near Chicago which has allowed me to make several trips into “Chi-Town” visiting the Art Institute (two times so far) Shed Aquarium, Oriental Museum, etc. Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford is beautiful. However, I am away from home, which makes it the worst thing that has happened this year.

*If you could send one thing to the Room 101, one would that be?*
I would start off with the guest bed. (I am trying to reclaim the guest bedroom and create a hobby/ reading/ drawing/ painting room)

*Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?*
I am happy thus far and have no intentions of altering that.

*One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?*
    Be patient and get outside.

How long did it take you to answer all of these questions?
    Two days
