Thread: Football World Cup 2010

Oh dear, poor results for me today, well done New Zealand for getting a draw beyond the odds though. I'll have to go all in on Brazil so 60 Sambas on Brazil, everything I've got.

    Bill: Out!

    Jester: 15

    Kilted: 90

    Lulim: 95

    Mark: 50

    Neely: 60

    Niamh: 95

    Papaya: Out!

    Paul : 83

    Pren: 27

    Scher: 85

    Turquoise: 65

    Virgil: 109

    Brazil vs N.Korea

    Turquoise: Brazil (10)

    Kilted: Brazil (90)

    Niamh: Brazil (40)

    Virgil: Brazil (35)

    Lulim: Brazil (5)

    Neely: Brazil (60)

    Paul: Brazil (10)

    Jester: Brazil (15)

    Mark: Brazil (50)

    Scher: Brazil (65)

    Pren: Brazil (20)

Most major teams have caused disappointment so far (apart from Germany); hope Brazil won't be one of those.

If they lose or draw, there will be a springing cleaning here (you know, it is tempting to wish a draw just to see that, actually ).

And that would place Lulim at the top of the board!

Yes - it's shaking the predictions up a bit, but there's still a long way to go. Well done NZ and the Ivory Coast. I can't say I'm disappointed that the underdogs have done well.

Wow, I'm actually in the lead! Doesn't it figure that the American who who has no knowledge of the game and much to everyone's chagrin refers to it as soccer and not football is in the lead.

I keep remembering 1966 when the North Koreans beat Italy and were two up against Portugal, before the great Eusaebio put them to the sword.

Oh, that doesn't say much really... Luck plays a major role in football; Italy did win the World Cup in 2006 after all!

Crikey, if you'd been at the bookie's you'd have got 5:1 on a draw.

    Well done!

N Korea did well! Pity they didn't pull another back. We're having a sweep at work tomorrow too. It's been very enjoyable so far.

We used to use football and soccer interchangeably when I was a lad Virgil. It's true that we tend to use football or footie, (not to confused with footsie), these days, but it's not odd to hear you refer to it as soccer. As for your predictions - it must be your Italian heritage.

I'm putting 10 on Chile first.

N Korea did very well, all the Asian teams have performed well above expectations so far, S Korea and Japan winning, very good fitness levels. Brazil did not play sexy football, but they got the win they wanted. Super Spain tomorrow.
