    It is: inexcusable.

A propos very little, as anti-war songs go, this one's less pat than most.

I should like Elvis Costello but he just doesn't reach me. He's upset about that, naturally. 6.5/10.

Even at his age, Springsteen produces some of the best lyrics and music of our time. 10/10

    Here's one that I like:

I love Alison Krause. It took me a while to warm up to her...I know she's supposed to have this beautiful, angelic voice, but the first time I heard her all I could think was that she sort of sounded like a chipmonk. It was that song on the radio about "The smile on your face... blah blah...when you say nothing at all...blah bah" (I know somoene has to know what I'm talking about here - I can't remember the title and I don't want to google). Anyway, if you can get beyond that radio release, she's good. She did a duet with Brad Paisley - Whiskey Lullaby - and I really liked it. Upon first listen, I didn't know if I liked it or not, but in the end I decided it was pretty good. And that brings me to Brad Paisley:

    4/10.

I'm very sorry, I was raised in rig territory. Whenever I hear anything twang-y, I have this visceral reaction that basically translates into "NO."

    My song:

Oh, it's alright. I'll probably get stoned for saying this, but I'm kinda middlin' about Monty Python. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes. . .eh, it's not.

    The song 6/10

Here's one from back when I was more into loud and angry than I am now:

    Good song - 7/10

How about back to the beginning:

It reminds me of the dinner time youth club at school - the only time it wasn't run by the local yobs - playing the odd game of table tennis.
