Revolutionary Road (2008)
Set in 1950's suburban America, the film tells a story about a young, married couple (played by Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio) who decide to take a risk and leave a comfortable, settled, though routinely life in Connecticut to discover their passions and true selves in Paris.

However, problems arise when April (Winslet) learns that she is pregnant and Frank's (Di Caprio) sudden promotion in the firm forces them to reconsider their migration. This displeases April immensely, and at the height of her emotional breakdown, she attempts to abort the baby herself. An enraged Frank questions his wife's sanity at the same time confesses his own infidelities.

Kate Winslet & Leonardo Di Caprio give such outstanding performances in Revolutionary Road. Definitely one of the best / most emotional films I've seen in a long while. 10/10

I also watched revolutionary road very recently and found the acting incredible. It must have been very difficult, particularly the scenes of intense animosity and frustration when they shout at each other. Great film. Would definitely recommend it

Band of Brothers ~ HBO miniseries. I loved it!

Stunning production presented with great respect for humanity.

Band of Brothers (DVD) This is one of the best miniseries I have ever seen and experienced...you don't just see this film you take it in and experience each moment as it happens. I think it is now my alltime favorite war film. I can't see one thing I would have changed about this fine film. The performances were totally engrossing and the intense and varied action was so engaging; also suspenseful. One truly felt the chaois present in a battle and the subsequent 'thoughtful' moments were just stunning...they stopped me dead in my tracks; I still think and ponder on those profound/poignant moments in the film. Attention to detail was wonderful. Some key moments I don't want to reveal here, because I think this would spoil the film for others.

I borrowed this fine set from a friend and so far, within a two month period, I have watched the entire production (including extras) three times. I could easily watch it again many times over. Everytime I watched it, I felt more involved and more understanding and appreciative of the individual men who fought, against all odds, for our freedom in WWII. I was totally engaged with the characters and got to know them even better after my third veiwing. I am eternally grateful to all of these brave men, ones that lived to tell the story and ones who died in battle. Survivors suffered much and they had great fortitude. I would like to thank them all personally...everyone one of them were heros! Richard Winters, in real life, was much too modest, (in the documentary) when he said he was not a hero, to his grandson, but rather he served with a company of heros. He was exempletory in his leadership skills; he cared about his men and he no doubt, saved countless lives by his wise judgement. Damien Lewis did a fine job playing Dick Winters. The entire cast was well chosen and very believable as the characters they portrayed; all performances were extraordinary. I can't say enough about this film. It is well worth owning. The set is beautiful and very well done; worth the investment. Beautiful score as well. I heard the lyrics to the main theme recently on YT and they are amazing....very uplifting. I am considering buying the score. It fit the movie well. The way the film was presented looked very authentic and the cinamatography was well done. 10/10 for sure!

Navy Blue and Gold (1937): Best movie about the Naval Academy, ever, including both genuine good elements and unintentional humor. Fisticuffs! Football! Friendship! It also has Jimmy Stewart, an automatic bonus. The plot's a little cliche, but honestly it's just a great fun little movie and somehow manages to be more accurate to the Naval Academy (even that of 2010) than "Annapolis" (2006).

The last movie was Avatar, which was the first and last time I see this movie :P It was a very fantastic movie when you see this weird new world, but the plot wasn't my fav.

I've seen HP 6 for the fifth times now ^_^ enjoying it as always, not as much as the book though.

I think I fell in love more with George Peppard and his character- the sensitive and bookish writer Paul Varjack than I was with Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn). But that may stem from the fact that I could identify with Holly's philosophy with not wanting to "belong to anyone" & “I’m like cat here, a no-name slob. We belong to nobody, and nobody belongs to us. We don’t even belong to each other.” Paul refutes this argument, making me feel more pathetic than I already was by saying:

You know what’s wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You’re chicken, you’ve got no guts. You’re afraid to stick out your chin and say, “Okay, life’s a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that’s the only chance anybody’s got for real happiness.” You call yourself a free spirit, a “wild thing,” and you’re terrified somebody’s gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you’re already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it’s not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It’s wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.

Further reading of the wiki of this film told me of the controversy surrounding the character of Holly's Japanese neighbor Mr Yunioshi (Mickey Rooney), who portrays a stereotypical, loud, buck-toothed Asian. The Asian community back in the days were apparently offended and the director Blake Edwards was quoted saying "Looking back, I wish I had never done it...and I would give anything to be able to recast it, but it's there, and onward and upward." I was honestly surprised, reading about it. Mr. Yunioshi's antics in the film to me, were a bit theatrical but non-offensive.

Overall, I thought the film was slightly overrated. Just, slightly. Audrey Hepburn was charming as always, and the art direction was great and so was the Cat, I loved the Cat; that no-name slob. But something tells me the book by Truman Capote will be much better.

Overrated? How? The film is pretty perfect.

Revolutionary Road - 10/10 - I've written about this film many times, but I saw it again today. Amazing.

Leaves Of Grass - 9/10 - Good to see Edward Norton in a new movie. This film was great, but didn't really stick with me enough to be a 10/10.

Rather entertaining movie with an interesting theme (a world where nobody lies) and many famous names making appearances made this a worthwhile viewing for me.

Got this DVD from the library. It's based on the Robert Hanssen security breach and is a pretty interesting look at the inner workings of the FBI.
