I"ll admit this, I would be one of the suckers to make sure she gets a medal regardless. After seeing other competitors, she's clearly not gold material. That's just my opinion, so don't jump all over me on that. But I saw a few good bronze contenders, and she could easily be in 3rd, or 4th, or 5th. However, if I were a judge — and being human — there's just no way that I would have let her leave the games without a medal in light of what happened.

So is it the right medal? Not sure. Is it the right call? Yes.

"But do you really, seriously, Major Scobie," Dr. Sykes asked, "believe in hell?"
    "Oh, yes, I do."
    "In flames and torment?"
"Perhaps not quite that. They tell us it may be a permanent sense of loss."
"That sort of hell wouldn't worry me," Fellowes said.
"Perhaps you've never lost anything of importance," Scobie said.

Too bad the women's curling loses a close match against Sweden to take home a silver. Sad to say they messed up the tenth end allowing the Swedes to tie it up.

Anyway, two golds and a bronze in short track speed skating makes this another great day for Canada.

Only real medal opportunities left for Canada are the men's pursuit tomorrow, men's hockey, and men's curling. All guaranteed at least silvers, if we're lucky golds.

4 man bobsleigh have a good chance at a medal as well.

What is the difference, if any, between "bobsled" and "bobsleigh"?

Bobsled is the American name I think.

    Damn right, Canada.
I'm weary with right-angles, abbreviated daylight,
Waiting for a winter to be done.
Why do I still see you in every mirrored window,
In all that I could never overcome?

I was ripping my hair out in the third, Canada was falling apart, playing like crap. They pulled it together in the OT and dominated.

Canada finishes the games with the most gold medals of any nation in a single winter games, 14, and third in the overall medal standings. Not too bad.

Edit: The USA, Germany, and Norway did well also, getting first, second, and fourth position in the overall medal standings.

Russia had a disappointing finish back in 6th.

But why did it have to be a penguin that scored the winning goal?????

Canada had penguins playing for them??

I guess it's easy to win the gold medal when you have ringers like that on your team.
