    Happy Birthday, Grace86

    Happy Birthday, Grace!

    An interview with Grace86:

Why are we doing this interview thing?
Because getting to know the unknown in people's lives is a universal curiousity I'm just

kidding...well...sorta...who doesn't like to read interviews of fellow litnetters?

Are you sure you want to do this?
    I'm positive...are you sure??

    Are you male or female?
    Female

What is your name (if you don't mind sharing it with us)?
Lauren. But Grace is my middle name.

    Got milk?
Just bought some yesterday! After two weeks without it!

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
I dont' know, but when I find out, I am gonna get that cookie back and put the milk to good use!!!

If you had a personal theme song what would it be?
Oh dear, there are several. Wholly...probably Drops of Jupiter by Train, or currently, Broken by Lifehouse.

What makes you keep coming back to the Forum?
My friends! All of you! And the friends I've yet to meet here! Oh yeah, and the literature!

It has been a year since the last interview. What have been the high and low points?
It's really been a year? Well, I've not been around the forum so much in the past year because of university, so I guess that would be the low point. High point for litnet would be, I think, so many more new faces.

The best and worst books you have read during last year?
Some of the best: Mountains Beyond Mountains - Kidder, it was about an anthropologist who became a doctor and did some amazing work in Haiti and Peru with tuburculosis. Another one was Wuthering Heights.
The only one I'd qualify among the worst was Cormac McCarthy's The Road, not because it was the worst, but because I read it and found it quite depressing at the time I read it during the year.

Those are the books that I can remember reading. It was a busy year with textbooks (can I put them among the worst read?) Somewhere among them I also tried reading David Copperfield, Reading Lolita in Tehran, Ceremony and a couple others. This year will be better in regard to reading.

The biggest surprises of the past year (both pleasant and unpleasant)?
The surprise, pleasantly I graduated university with my BA in Anthropology which is cool cause I thought I'd have to quit. It's also a pleasant surprise that I'll continue living in California.

What has been the the biggest change in your life since your last birthday?
I moved, finished school, find myself surprisingly single whereas this time last year it looked like I'd be in a relationship, and I find that that's okay. This coming year I know will be full of changes.

Do you feel the divine spark of life within you or do you consider yourself a mechanical thing?
A divine spark most definitely! I believe I am here to love others and to teach/show them that they are loved by a wonderful God. I believe Christ would have me share the Gospel to a dying world. God's given me opportunities to share that spark of life with people in other countries and here at home with things both big and yet as small as a smile. If you don't like hearing this, I apologize, but I was asked the question and as such I honestly answered.

Do you have any pets? What are their names?
Last September I had a kitty, his name was Dante. I named him having The Inferno in mind. It was for this reason that I also had to get rid of him.

Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?
I've never thought about it before. Is it cliche to say a bird? Or maybe a large wild cat like a leapord.

How did you meet your significant other?
I've yet to meet him. I've come close to having one. But as of now I am still waiting. All in God's time though.

What is the one thing you must do before you die?
Aside from sharing Christ with as many as I can....I'd love love love to go to Italy (and hopefully know Italian when I do go)

    Do you believe in ghosts?
    No.

What song is in your head at the moment?
"Holy"...a rendition from Jesus Culture...that and the Charlie Brown theme song

Which book are you reading at the moment?
The Treasure of the Lake - Haggard

What type of an author would you be?
People tell me that I am a pretty good writer, yet I don't have much patience when it comes to writing, so if I were to become an author, I'd be pretty clear, and not too fantastical in content. I'd probably stick pretty close to writing a novel with a lot pulled from actual experiences within my own life. Maybe. Who knows. I may surprise the world one day with using my anthropology education in writing something crazy adventurous!

The last book you finished reading?
Wuthering Heights. Then I gave it to my sister.

What are you wearing at the moment?
I'm all dressed up (shh I am at work!) in blue jeans, cowboy boots, a silk cream blouse with a brown angora sweater.

    Favorite TV shows?
Bones, House, and yes, the Simpsons and/or Family Guy. The one I watch the most is Bones. Otherwise, I don't usually watch television.

Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could?
All of them, but realistically.....haha...umm I tried listing a couple of them but ended up with so many....so yes...all of them. Among them, mtpspur, shoutgrace, pensy, papaya, scher, optimistic, janine, (oh heck here I go again)

    Favorite post on the Forum?
For the post and the thread, I can't really make up my mind. I love the photos, what are you reading right now, serious discussions, umm I love reading the poetry...you guys are gifted writers. So yes...this will be my answer for both questions..

    Favorite thread?
    See above.

    Last food did you have?
Beef taquitos and rice that I made for dinner last night.

Last words you said out loud?
"Alright buh bye"...I was talking to my mama on the phone.

    Last person you hugged/kissed?
Last person I hugged was a friend named Chris giving some encouraging advice. And umm the last person I kissed (blushing) was someone I was seeing; his name was Sean.

What question would you like to ask yourself?
Have I done everything I can today to make sure that the people I love know I love them?

What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?
I should be working. Or singing maybe.

    Last dream you remember having?
I was in a mall with a friend and we were shopping for home goods and I had this baby in my arms. Halfway through the dream I realized the baby was mine. Strange dream.

What is your most bizarre book memory?
At community college I was walking and waiting for my ride home, I came to the stairs to the parking lot and found and orange/brown old old old copy of Plato's Republic sitting nicely on the step. It's pages and title were gilted (sp?) and not a soul was around. I waited to see if anyone would claim it. I even asked a few people. When no one claimed ownership I brought it home with me. It now sits at my desk at home.

Who is your best friend and how long you have known them?
Her name is Roxanne. I've known her since we were sophomores in highschool...so like eight years. We've split paths and gone our own direction in life but we've always been best friends. Only ever had one fight in all that time...and it was over the latest Indiana Jones movie...but that's cause her husband was working, it was raining, and she was pregnant.

What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done?
Umm...worst?? Well I don't know if I wanna go there specifically. I'll just acknowledge that I am not perfect and we all make mistakes.

If you had to lose one of your senses, which would you choose and why?
Probably smell...because at the moment on thinking of it, I am sure I am taking it's value for granted.

Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?
I'm joyful. There's a difference in the two terms. But I am still in pursuit and always trying to press toward the mark of bringing glory to God. There are things in life I'd like to have and do, but those will come in due time.

How often do you tell lies?
More often than never. I've not told a major lie in a really really long time. I don't usually lie, though if I do, it's often one of omission.

    What gives your life meaning?
My God and the love that I give to others. I'm here to serve and love on people. I've been told that when one shares Christ, only if it's necessary - use words. I know the love that my God has for me, I don't love Him the way I should all the time because I mess up like everyone else, and I know I don't understand or grasp His love fully - I never could...but I do know that He loves others around me the same way, and my life has meaning in sharing that with them.

What type of Faerie would you like to be and why?
Hmm...I'm not too sure because I don't know much of them really. Maybe a water faerie.

If you were a colour, what colour would you be and why?
Blue. It's my favorite, it's deep and calm.

    What makes you laugh?
Just about everything. People say I laugh a lot and that I am always smiling.

What was the happiest period of your life and why?
Right now I think, because I am waiting expectantly on the changes coming, it's a good time.

If you could be a Disney character who or what would you be and why?
Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I'd love that library, she's smart and beautiful and can sing, and hey she gets the prince...even if he takes a little work. Story of my life.

Do those animated smilies ever get tired? Think of them day after day, dancing or crashing computers or laughing or crying till the end of time...
Actually, they make me laugh. I'd hope they wouldn't get tired, because I need them!!! But if they need a vacation, I suppose smilies and I could work something out!

One thing you would like to do before your next birthday?
Decide how exactly I am going to continue my education...graduate school, law school, medical school, theology school...yes...I do understand that is a WIDE range of possibilities. And, I understand it's tough. But I've got no pressing deadlines!!

Did you answer all of the question?
    I think so.

One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?
Keep your chin up. The sun always comes out after the storm. And sometimes we're even given a rainbow after that storm!

What would you like to ask to the person to be interviewed after you?
What is your best memory of childhood?
    ~
"It is not that I am mad; it is only that my head is different from yours.”

    What, you didn't mention me?!!!

Well, well, I'll wish you a happy birthday anyway.

Happy birthday my dear friend. I see you graduated! Fantastic! It was a wonderful interview. And you're a cowboy boots type of girl.

Do you have any pets? What are their names?
Last September I had a kitty, his name was Dante. I named him having The Inferno in mind. It was for this reason that I also had to get rid of him.
Is that because he gave you hell?

Here are some presents for you.

Happy belated! Lovely interview...I feel you took the "what kind of author would you be?" answer right out of my head!

Oh I'm hamming it up Gracie. I know how easy it is to forget someone. That's why when I'm asked I always respond with something like, "oh just about everyone." I never mention any names. Thank you. Perhaps one day we will meet. I hope so.
