    Book Buddies

Every now and then we look for people who are willing to read books with us.

Please post your requests in this thread and then we can start separate discussion threads.

So, I am given Confessions of a Mullah Warrior by a friend but I am not sure if I can go through it without group support.

    Anyone willing?

I would love to read it. I am just finishing off 'The Land of Green Plums', by Herta Muller. My only problem: I would have to try and obtain the book either through the bookstore which would take anyting between two and three weeks, or alternatively I could travel three hours into the north to look for it or travel five to Galway or four to Dublin in the hope that some bookstore might have a copy. Otherwise, I would be more than happy to read the work.

I will try Dublin, (Easons) - Hope to have it by Friday...

Bump! (Maybe this thread should have a sticky?) I am reading David Foster Wallace's last collection (or so I believe) of fiction, Oblivion, and for once I do not mind the expense of these ereader files.

If someone would like to join me I find him worth the challenge. I also had to review his work for myself. As to his suicide, the density and the discipline of his writing have offered me some insight; it is impossible that it not, and even though I knew nothing about the man until I membered here on LN, I still find his death moving. He had an extraordinary talent.

    Hi Jozanny,

I have only read a few essays and excerpts by Wallace, but liked what I've read well enough. I just wanted to give you a 'heads-up' about some stuff from The New Yorker online:

An article about his life and challenges, leading up to his death:

A short story that I'm pretty sure is an excerpt from the novel he left unfinished at his death:

I know you're busy with a book of his now, but I'm just posting so that you might come back to these later, if interested. (And if you haven't read them already.)
