    That´s a difficult question... I think it depends on the place I´m going to. If it happens to be a cruise, I would carry a book about travels, such as Marco Polo, Benjamin de Tudela (a Spanish jewish who in the 12th century went to the Middle East), some Spanish conqueror in the New World or even Herodoto.

    That's a good point. I always have my notebook about my person - you never know when inspiration may strike!

    And it is usually on a trip when inspiration arises.

    Cool. But they are hard to get hold of. I had to pay £50 ($120ish) for a second hand edition as they are out of print, but if you can get hold of a copy then wow...

    Walden, no question about it.

    Just because I can't will myself to read it at home.
    How come? Walden is deeply impressive.

    Lolita or Slaughterhouse-5

    Lolita to remind me of the beauty of language and Slaughterhouse-5 to remind me:

    God grant me the serenity
    To accept the things I cannot change;
    Courage to change the things I can;
    And wisdom to know the difference.

    I think that Moby Dick would be great on a cruise. That or The Old Man and The Sea if you want something that'll take up less of your time.

    This kindle thing sounds interesting. This is the second time I've heard about it.

    Hi,

    I have always been interested in The Republic by Plato. Therefore i would take that on my journey.

    I get distracted by video games, internet, and my girlfriend. So even if I have time to read, it isn't Walden.

    I'd probably take The Picture of Dorian Gray too.

    The Brothers Karamazov, because it is so long and so many different events happen throughout. It would keep you pretty busy for a long trip
    I'm losing all those stupid games
    That I swore I'd never play

    Good choice, if you didn't take a Russian version, which translation would you take (assuming you have a choice)?

    and i bet she told, a million people that she'd stay in touch, and all those little promises that don't mean much, when theres memories to be made and i hope you're holding hands by new years eve, it makes it far to easy to believe, that true romance cant be achieved, these days..
