    Hello

    Hello,
just signed up and this is my first post.
I "attempt" to write poetry and love to read it more and gladly review/comment on others work, however be warned I am not a professional, in fact I am self taught for all the good that's done me.

Hope to read many fine works here, and thank you for this place of literate refuge!

    Hello All,
I am excited to join this forum. I love contemporary literature, and books with literary merit from all genres. Some of my favorites are Richard Ford, Graham Greene, and Cormac McCarthy.

Good evening, at least it after midnight where I live. What can I say about myself that would be profound? I guess the truth is always the best option. I am married, I have two children (one who teaches literature to high school students) the other who works at a hospital. My husband and I live in a zoo, no that is not a joke it is a fact. We run a small non profit zoo and somehow my life was brought here to live among the animals. It has enriched me, most likely is responsible for my children being who they are as they were brought up living in a zoo, and is a passion for which I have never grown weary.

Reading the previous posts I have to say I am dismayed at the lack of passion for literature as a university course or career. I love books, any books of any kind. I am a voracious reader and writer and believe that the written word is more powerful than any other art form. It brings our imaginations to life, we form pictures in our minds and travel on a journey with each turn of the page. Without literature both past and future we would be less than we are. Yes, I have a Masters in Science and I am a primatologist but for me the written word can change the world. For the work I do with endangered and exotic species the written word could possibly save a species from extinction. For it is the written word that gives me knowledge, that gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge, but more importantly to share my passion for those animals that struggle to survive. To create awareness of their stories and hope that their stories will not be heard as a history lesson but as a lesson that changed their fate. Okay, I guess I have done more than introduce myself, but you did ask for it :-)

I just finished a graduate program and landed on a nice job here in Houston, Texas. I am very busy trying to settle myself well in the company. But, I read as much as I can in between my projects. My main interest is poetry and read many poems in between my books and while reading a book. I look forward to participating in the forum even when the only thing I could do is reading your posts.

An expeditionary here. Let's clash, contradict, listen, make amends, unite and conquer.

Hoping to know other Scheherazade fans too!

She's one of my favorite too. =) Funny how I used to be so hesitant to lay my hands on her back back then.

Have you seen its Film version...a masterpiece!!! Certainly it can not be compared to the theatrical performances, but this certainly goes closer...

Oops! Gues I did not introduce my self as in yet.
    Hi All,
I am Ebonon, ofcourse its my pen-name and I am writing a novel on this imaginary island called Ebonon. Inlfuenced by Kafka's Noir Magical Realism, I am trying my best to create a new narrative structure and ambience in this one.

See, by now you must have noticed, if given a chance,I can brag about myself to glory. :P

So here I end my brief introduction.

Hello, everyone. This is the first time I have posted on this site. I am eager to begin a new adventure. I am an English teacher in a high school alternative learning environment.
My students are at-risk in many areas and I continue to look for innovative and relevant ways to introduce and teach the literature for the students. I work with World Literature, American Literature and Britsh Literature. I need all the help I can get. So bring it on and forward and all that you have to help me arm my arsenal to make literature a real and heartwarming adventure for my students as it is to me.

Hello all, I'm Rena. I hold a Japanese passport, but ethnically I'm a mix of Japan and China. Been living abroad since 6, going to international schools since 4th grade. Yep, I'm a third culture kid

I read a lot of poetry and fiction, but I only write poetry and essays. My favourite poets are E. E. Cummings, Charles Bukowski, Philip Larkin and Sylvia Plath; my favourite novelists are Alan Hollinghurst and Haruki Murakami. Although I haven't read their works extensively, I also really liked what I got so far from Albert Camus and Ray Bradbury. I'm really picky on the voice of the text, which may explain the shortness of this list...
My favourite playwrights are Tennessee Williams, Sarah Kane and, of course, Shakespeare!

Looking forward to all the discussions

Hi everyone. I'm new, so please be gentle. Just looking to contribute, and to appreciate those who have already contributed. I was introduced by a dear friend, a dear cousin, a writer, a lover of the literary portrait, the picture painted with words. I hope this is a good place to be
