Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever

The cabaret was empty now, a sign said, "Closed for repair,"
Lily had already taken all of the dye out of her hair.
She was thinkin' 'bout her father, who she very rarely saw,
Thinkin' 'bout Rosemary and thinkin' about the law.
But, most of all she was thinkin' 'bout the Jack of Hearts.

Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts-Bob Dylan

Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
    Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
    Cold comfort for change?

"I must have been through about a million girls
I'd love 'em and I'd leave 'em alone
I didn't care how much they cried, no sir
Their tears left me cold as a stone"

It's "Fooled Around and Fell in Love"- but I can't remember who did it- does that count?

Jennifer Juniper lives upon the hill,
    Jennifer Juniper, sitting very still.
Is she sleeping ? I don't think so.
Is she breathing ? Yes, very low.
Whatcha doing, Jennifer, my love ?
Jennifer Juniper, rides a dappled mare,
Jennifer Juniper, lilacs in her hair.

Not too many here into oldies....LOL

    Donavan..I think...
didn't he also do Mellow Yellow?

    okay here's another..

With your sheets like metal and your belt like lace,
And your deck of cards missing the jack and the ace,
And your basement clothes and your hollow face,
Who among them can think he could outguess you?
With your silhouette when the sunlight dims
Into your eyes where the moonlight swims,
And your match-book songs and your gypsy hymns,
Who among them would try to impress you?

Remembering you fallen into my arms
Crying for the death of your heart
You were stone white so delicate
    So lost in the cold

Pictures of You - the Cure

One of my favorite songs ever:
The things that I've loved the things that I've lost
The things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need to forget
Do, or do not. There is no try. - Yoda

    Doesn't remind me- Chris Cornell

"Up the stairs to her appartment
She is balled up on the couch
Her Mom and dad went down the Sharlen
They're not home to find us out"

Brick by Ben Folds Five, but I think the words "the Sharlen" are supposed to be "to Charlotte."

'My Favourite Things' from The Sound of Music.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with string
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

I was thinking about this today, and I thought, "How very bloody convenient that so many of her favourite things rhyme."

I mean, mittens and kittens. Strudels and noodles.

"That's not good lyric writing," I thought. "That's just listing stuff from the rhyming dictionary."

But then I started to consider my own favourite things. Like, my favourite drink is champagne and my favourite drug is cocaine. My favourite city's New York and my favourite roast is - yes - pork. Suddenly it occurred to me that some weird, mischievous force in the universe is giving us all favourite things in rhyming pairs! It's incredible! And it just goes on and on when you think about it...

My favourite team are the RedSox and my favourite bagel is lox. Amazing! My favourite card game is poker and my favourite colour is ochre!

You ought to try this yourself.

My favourite musician, by far, is Charlie Mingus and - wouldn't you know it - my favourite pastime is, er, carpentry.

    Anyway....

Boy, Mark, I think this could be a whole new thread! But it might shut down Litnet! I loved the rhyming, though.

    Back on Topic....LOL

    Here's another oldie but goodie...

I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe
    Where I'm bound, I can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word, gal
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time

Hang on a minute - don't you have to get the one I quoted at the bottom of my post?

If not, yours is Don't Think Twice It's Alright by Dylan.
