Fractals are difficult, since physical constraints require that you not stitch into infinity.

Tessellations, on the other hand, are perfect for quilts.

I hope I attached this picture correctly. It is M.S. Echer's Angels and Devils

One of my favorite things ever. It is a hyperbolic tessellation.

if you don't like that one, google search tessellation. There are lots of them. I like the hyperbolic ones because the tessellations illustrate relativity.

I don't know whenever I hear the words math I tend to black out. I know she doesnt do stats, but thats about it.

Roots of mathematical interest on fractals can be traced back to the late 19th Century, the term however was coined by Benoît Mandelbrot in 1975 and was derived from the Latin fractus meaning "broken" or "fractured." A mathematical fractal is based on an equation that undergoes iteration

Right Thanks! That actually does sound intresting and I see how they would make brilliant quilts

Those quilts are awesome! I used to dabble in fractals myself. It is very difficult to do good ones.

This is someone I used to talk to from time to time when I was still active on this site. He has AMAZING fractals. Go into the gallery to some of the older stuff. Really good stuff
