She is doing her legs and bikini line, and needs 8 appointments to get it to work. As I understand, the machine goes for the darkest hairs first, then the 2nd appointment is for the next to darkest hairs etc. She needs at least 6 weeks (I do not remember exactly) between each treatment. Taking that you're not allowed to go into the sun (bad for the skin and diminishes the contrast between hairs and skin) and the treatment itself is hurtful and expensive... I am really doubtful to take the step. Almost one whole year not in the sun! But, on the other hand... you do not need to shave anymore, that is worth something I guess.

She believes it works (otherwise she would not have done it). I don't know - got to see it in 10 years time ... Very sceptical myself
My aunt had that done. It has been 2 years and it seemed to have worked. Also, my brother had a teacher in middle school that got his facial hair (mustache, beard areas) removed with the laser. As far as I know he hasn't had any problems. I hate shaving...and I can't stand seeing an bit of growth on my legs, etc. If I had the money I would consider undergoing the procedure--only because I've seen the effect first hand. Then again, it is up for personal opinion. This same aunt also got her eyebrows, lip liner and eye liner tattooed on. Very popular in Mexico I believe. I don't think I would EVER consider that.

Oh, and I figured out what I'm doing for my make up for the party. No glow in the dark, I decided to take a mod/retro look with bright sassy colors. Should be super fun.

Hmm... even if it works only for 2 years it might be worth the hustle... But indeed, money is a bother to get this done. I also heard it's not the best thing to do to your skin...

I remember a time when I did not wax my bikini line (or do a brazilian wax) and I was fine with it, lived with it, then all of a sudden it became something that I "should" do, so I do it always now... hating it when the hair grows too much.

ah, conformity and social norms. Maybe if they had a new magazine out: with healthy (by this I mean not stick thin or airbrushed) looking and hairy girls as models... then things would be different.
I like that idea! It would be nice to see some real-looking people in those things...
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

I had my hair cut ( by a hairdresser) on friday It was midback length to start and now about sholder length.
Look at me away a month and I cant even think how to post ...
where was I oh yes hair, so the hairderesser sees my hair and makes the squeaky OH MY GOD sound, and want to know just how much she can chop off... I hadn't realised it had got that bad. I should perhaps explain that including friday I have had my hair cut/seen by hairdresser on 2 in the last 13 years. Generally I grab one of my sisters when they are bored and go hey do you feel like cutting 4 inches off my hair?
so question conditioner- how does that work exactly? as in why is supposed to be so good? what makes it any different to shampoo? and how do I use it...

people didn't used to use conditioner I think, but instead used vinegar in water for the final rinse, or if blonde, lemon water. Conditioner is supposed to make the hair shaft smooth, the little threads lying down and one on top of the other instead of flying about and giving the appearance of disorder and dullness, as opposed to shampoo which lifts dirt from the hair and rinses away in water.
It is a good idea to use conditioner if it is fly away, course or unmanagible. But you must rinse thoroughly. And if still dreadful on the ends you can use very refined oil, mixed in the palm of your hand with a little water and massaged in. Makes thehair look polished and elegant.

I once had sixteen inches cut off. I remember feeling like a friend had died and I felt sick for a while until I learned to love my shoulder length bob.

I need to get my hair trimmed soon - and yes, Muslim women DO go to the hair dresser, and we DO style and colour our hair!!

I had my hair mid-back length up to early last year. Then I got it cut shoulder-length, and now I can't wait for it to grow longer...and it's seeming to take FOREVER!!! Ilvoe long hair!

I forgot to mention - today my fiance and I went to the apartment to start getting things in order. It was so romantic, being there together with him, knowing that that's where we're going to start our life together. We didn't take a thing to eat...I'd taken an apple and a pear, and he brought Gatorade and Lucozade - and that was breakfast and lunch...lol...needless to say - it was one of the best meals that I've had ;-)

I can imagine Tournesol. Must be exiting to start a new period in your life, especially when it is a step to share that life

And hairdresser... what is there to say. I went to one last month or so - telling them to cut it "shoulder length" - and take care I can still make a pony tail. Silly little me thought that would be "lowest tip on the shoulder blades". Of course I just let the hairdresser do her thing while I read up on the latest car technologies Imagine my surprise when I looked up and saw my hair hanging until my shoulders She cut of 30cm! All my own "fault", but it was quite uneasy for a week I was so used to long hair It was a good thing she cut so much of though, my hair was a mess - I always bind it together by ... well, I grab the hair, turn it into chaos (or keep it in chaos) and put an elastic around it. No neat tail for me. Needless to say I had knots in my hair that were impossible to get out... So it is a good thing she could just cut those

    Any ways... coffee anyone?

Well, she listened all right. I just had this image in my head of how it would be afterwards and it was a bit shorter than I had imagined It is odd - I really feel like I have short hair now (shoulderlenght), while I have had a really short cut (ear lenght ) until my next to final year in high school. Strange how quick you get used to longer hair!

I usually get my hair cut once a year around spring, early summer. Last time I had it cut was July of last year. It was way past my shoulders and I told my hairdresser I want it shoulder length. Meaning, I want my hair to reach my shoulders not above. So she starts cutting away and I am paying attention and thinking how short is she going but sometimes its hard to tell when your hair is still wet. To make a long story short, my hair was shorter than what I had wanted. I had a little stub for a pony tail.

A little sensitivity please! There are some people amongst us who cut off 30 cm of their hair willingly!

And for those, for it is quite a change of face! I have thought about going for "short" hair again (when I have a steady income again and can actually afford to go to a hairdresser ) but I really have no idea what kind of cut would look good. I just can not imagine it any more... I know you can start playing with photoshop and stuff, but that really does not look realistic when I try it
