Hi, I stumbled upon this site while looking for some ideas on conducting Creative Writing Workshops for kids. Liked what I saw, and registered myself. If anyone has done this sort of thing before, please share your thoughts. I am basically a fiction writer who has published several short stories and have a novel being serialised on a website. As I believe that most children's natural creativity gets stifled as they grow up, I decided to have some workshops in my house for children aged 8 to 10 yrs. Response has been good - M.

Talking Goodness me, what have I stumbled upon?

Hi everyone, I am super excited to find this site! I don't know anybody else that actually likes reading books, diregarding chick-lit (does that make anybody else giggle?), in real life.

I have set myself the task of tackling 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die and I want to get more out of the books than just ploughing through them and ticking them off my list.

I am currently working at a wildlife park where I look after the koalas, my day revolves around satisfying the little beasts and trying to stop them from climbing up my leg.

I had been enrolled at uni completing a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Animal Science, but have decided to switch to my other love and applied for a BA majoring in English and Creative Arts. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with any of it, I'm more interested in pleasing myself and then worrying about consequences.

My favourite books: The Last of the Mohicans, Watership Down, The Virgin Suicides, The Magic Faraway Tree , The Lord of the Rings ummmm... That's all I can think of for now.

Currently reading: The Picture of Dorian Gray

I'm looking forward to chatting with you all!

    P.S. I dig music

actually i'm not that fun-to-be-with person.
    i'm a timid type.
i usually spend the day myself.
i love reading books ( that's why i joined this forum)
    i talk less
i don't like to talk non sense things
i love doing things my own
i don't consider people around me as my friend
    i'm afraid of heights
i don't know how to swim
and most of all i'm not that intelligent

So . . . what can you say about me?

Hihi! Here I am, new to this forum! I love books. Give me a book and I'll read it, for sure!

I was always the book beast, sitting against the wall all by myself, escaping into any book that I could get my little hands on! Teachers would scorn me, take my books away! But I'd always sneak them. I'm able to control my book-reading urges now.. Just barely! I have a problem! Bahaha. I'm probably far too broad-minded when it comes to books, not like my dear book beauty!

Oh yeah, and here's my guy, BookBeauty, to tell you all about his deepest passions in the world of literature. Or maybe just to say Hello.

'Hey there' back and welcome to the forum, BookBeauty!...and welcome too BookBeast; I take it you two know each other. Interesting names and great way to introduce BookBeauty.

Check the size of the picture. It may be too large.

    Hello everyone.

I recently stumbled across the forum and thought I'd register and chip in from time to time. Currently reading (and loving) Midnight's Children, and am looking forward to many a recommendation from you all on here!

Joined yesterday, made a few posts.. Hello, people.
What do I read?.. I'm probably different from many people here because actually, I'm getting bad about reading. Nothing seems that interesting to me and I have a habit of starting one book after another until I've got several unfinished books. So perhaps I joined in some hope that being around people who love books and reading would motivate me to read more. I don't seem to have as much patience for books anymore and my eyes get sleepy reading the words sometimes. I want to enjoy reading books more like other people do, but I guess I'm becoming more of a picky reader.
Anyway, hello and I hope I enjoy this place..Thanks.

    Hi!
I found here when I was searching for criticism of Jane Eyre.
The website is great. I'm so excited about being a member of it.
