    Happy Birthday, vheissu!

Hope you are having a great day!

An interview with the birthday girl herself:

Are you sure you want to do this?
    Too late, I’ve started now.

    Are you male or female?
Female – hopefully most people knew that by now

How did you come about this site and what makes you keep coming back?
Hmmm…I had just read John Fowles’s The Magus and was trying to get more information on the author and somehow I ended up here. I think that’s what happened…

Are you happy with the way things are here?
    Yep.

Have you visited other countries than your own and what did you like about it or not like? If you could live somewhere different from where you live now, where would it be and why?
I’ve lived in three: Italy, Greece and UK (in that order) so I’ve travelled around those three countries. I’ve also been to Austria, Spain, France and Portugal.
I’d like to live somewhere much sunnier and relaxed. Barbados sounds excellent at the moment!

    Do you have any pets?
No, but I’d love a cat.

    What makes you happy?
A lot of things, but mainly being with friends. Really good food. Running.

What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall?
Biggest achievement: figuring out what to do with ‘em cocoa beans
Greatest downfall: I wouldn’t know where to start.

If you had a long day of hard work ahead of you what music would you be playing on your mp3, while working?
Dance music, no lyrics (that would just distract me)

If you could take one book, music album and one video with you to a desert island, what would they be?
As long as I had a return ticket from said desert island:
Book: the brothers Karamazov, which I still haven’t read
Music: I’d just bring my mp3 player – the same album over and over would be boring
    Video: Lord of the Rings

Do you feel comfortable in your walk with God?
    I’m not religious

Which actor/actress should play you in a movie based on your life?
Anna Paquin. Though she looks nothing like me!

Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?
An eagle of course: I’d be able to fly and wouldn’t worry about being eaten or shot (I’d hope)

What were your favorite things to do the past? What about now?
When I was a kid, playing by the beach. Now, it’s laying on the beach.

What makes you feel great about yourself?
Er…making cupcakes and have other people eat them!

Who inspires you most? (Anyone you know or not. Family, friends, authors, artists, leaders, etc.) Which qualities inspire you, in each person?
Different people for different situations. I admire people who don’t give up even when faced with bad situations.

What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)
Lab techniques! I can make some pretty good things on Photoshop (but that’s just my opinion).

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
    Biology

What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?
Travelling more. But there’s still time for that.

What song is in your head at the moment?
    MGMT – electric feel

Which book are you reading at the moment?
I’m reading about 50 articles on three different topics this week, there’s no time to read anything else. Or do anything else!

The last book you finished reading?
    Fight club

    Favorite food?/ Comfort food?
CHOCOLATE!!!! Especially if it’s Lindt or green&black’s

What time of day do you most often find yourself on the LitNet?
    Evenings and nights.

What are you wearing at the moment?
My pj’s. I’ll be at home writing all day…

    Favorite poem?
    Don’t have one.

First novel you remember reading on your own?
    Does Peter Pan count?

    Favorite TV shows?
Too many (thankfully, I don’t have a TV here). I guess at the moment it’s House and Bones.

Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could?
    Everyone of course!!

    Favorite post on the Forum?
Favourite post?? Sorry, I don’t keep track of them all

    Favorite thread?
    ‘Pictures taken by you’

    Last food did you have?
Crunchy oats with raspberries. And my morning coffee.

Last words you said out loud?
    Ciao
(To my flatmate leaving for uni this morning)

    Last person you hugged/kissed?
    A friend at Uni.

What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?
I am (still) a uni student. So no income for the time being…

What question would you like to ask yourself?
Why have you not finished the essay yet?

What would you like to be if you could change your profession?
A professional photographer. Or a chef.

    Least favorite book/song/movie?
Book: The human stain by Philip Roth.
Song: there are plenty, but it’s the cheesy pop ones that get on my nerves.
Movie: All the chick flicks I was forced to watch!

What is your most outstanding feature?
My hair. It’s curly. Apparently people recognize me from miles away!

If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?
I’d like to be an inch or two taller.

Which book do you wish you had written?
The name of the rose by Umberto Eco.
Or Harry Potter – I’d have a lot less worries by now.

What is your favorite book cover?
There are so many! One that comes to mind is Memoirs of a Geisha. It’s very simple but at the same time perfect for that book.

Most and least favorite characters from books?
Well, I think it always depends on which book you’re reading at that time.

What would your biography be titled?
    Espresso macchiato

What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?
Finishing my literature review and clinical nutrition essay. And thinking of a new functional food. Any ideas?

    Wonderful Superman or depressing Batman?
Neither. Can I have Spiderman instead?

The most embarrassing moment in your life?
You guys really think I’d post that here? Hahaha.

Which literary character (s) have you been told to resemble the most?
I’ve never been told anything of the like. Should I be worried perhaps?

List some of the things that annoy you immensely.
Groups of people walking veeeeery slowly on the street and not making it easier for you to overpass them.

Anything that you want to forget but you never can?
I’m a firm believer that we learn from our mistakes. So I don’t want to forget anything, however unpleasant.

If you had to lose one of your senses, which would you choose and why?
Smell. Which would be sorely missed since I associate a lot of memories with smell. But losing any other sense would be too much.

What’s the first thing you’ll do in an embarrassing situation?
Go beet red. Then laugh. And then make a swift exit.

Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?
Most of the times. I wish things would be easier sometimes.

    What gives your life meaning?
The goal that I set and want to achieve. Things I want to do, which are many!

What type of Faerie would you like to be and why?
A tiny winged one that doesn’t sit still.

    What makes you laugh?
Fun stuff! Life makes me laugh at times.

What was the happiest period of your life and why?
My first year of university in Edinburgh: far away from home and absolute freedom!

One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?
Eat lots of fruit and veg!

What part of “Final” don’t you understand?
I’d really like to know how this question came about.

What would you like to ask to the person to be interviewed after you?
    What scares you?

Great interview vheissu. I learned quite a bit about you. Quick uestion: Where does your lit net name vheissu come from?

List some of the things that annoy you immensely.
Groups of people walking veeeeery slowly on the street and not making it easier for you to overpass them.
Well, if you're from Italy perhaps you've noticed this too, I have found that Italians (especially from small towns) just love to fare una passeggiata down the main avenue and just go very slow and talk and stop and talk and stop and talk with their hands.

Happy Birthday! I enjoyed reading your interview!
A dress of lindt chocolates for you to wear:
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

The dress above is simply gorgeous!

Massive thank you to you all!!!

Virgil, I did notice that in Sicily! But it didn't bother me too much there 'cause I was on holiday It's when I'm the one who is in a hurry to get somewhere that it really annoys me...

I got the name from Thomas Pynchon's book, V.. There were parts of that book that I had to read twice to get their meaning or because I loved the way it was written

    dramasnot, that dress is gorgeous!

And Janine..wow, those look too nice to eat!

Scher, papayahed, andave-ya, optimisticnad , thanks again!!
