    As much as I loved Jay Gatsby and Heathcliff, I have to choose Atticus Finch - one of the most passionate, utilitarian, truth-seeking, modest individuals of all literature.

    Yay! I was going to say Atticus Finch! I'd add Elwood P. Dowd in Harvey, if you count plays. but..as for pond scenes, I'd say Darcy wins hands down for ideal gorgeousness...
