I'm confused. What's the thing being commemorated on Australia Day?
If nothing, I suggest that Australia Day entail flying kites with some color or shape scheme that reflects the soul of Australia. Just imagine seeing a sky filled with kites shaped like the kangaroo.

And Australia Day is our national day, basically commemorating the arrival of the First Fleet, when Europeans, yes, including many convicts

Happy Aussie Day! I read a novel about Western Australia not long ago and the main character was new to the area and went out with his mates and got too close to a male Kangaroo, who was protecting his family; the kangaroo almost crushed him to death. Can that really happen, if they are cornered or threatened? They described him as a very large kangaroo and quite powerful, strong.
Now Koalas are native to Australia, right? Maybe they are in zoos now to protect their species. They must still have some in the wild, I would imagine. My neighbor was born in Australia and when her family went to visit she brought back addresses of kids we could write to as penpals. I learned a lot about the country then conversing with a young student. I recall my neighbor taught us in Girl Scouts all about the native animals and I am sure Koalas were included in that list.

Aren't there still some 'wild' camels in Northern Territory, Sprinks? Perhaps they should more accurately be called 'feral' as they were set free after being used to haul supplies in the building of the telegraph line/railway line through the territory - the hotel I stayed in at Ayers Rock had a 'camel' theme in the dining room and had some amazing photographs enlarged as murals.Ahaha, koalas are awesome
I got quite good at spotting koalas asleep in gum trees whilst travelling through some of the national parks, so much so that I had a 'dohhh!' moment this summer: a lot of eucalyptus trees were taken from Australia and planted in South Africa because they grow quickly and grow straight, so they were used for pit props etc in the development of the mines there. I woke up from a doze on a long coach journey somewhere in KwaZulu Natal to see we were travelling through a forest of gum trees and thought, 'Ah, good koala country, let's see if I can spot one...' Took me a moment to wake up properly and remember I was on the wrong continent.
Yes, kangaroos can do that. If you'll ever seen the damage a kangaroo can do to a car, you'll see how powerful they are. Their legs are incredible when they kick out!
Yes, koalas are native to here, but not in WA. WA is mostly desert, koalas need eucalyptus trees and the like - therefore, no wild koalas here.
Same theory with camels. You get them in NT and even in central WA, but not on the coast, with all the cities.
