    Happy birthday!

    An interview *Classic*Charm*:

1 - How did you come about this site and what makes you keep coming back?

I found it while googling a question I had about To Kill A Mockingbird while I was studying it in high school. I kept coming back because I had never come across so many insightful thoughts in one place.

2 - Have you visited other countries than your own and what did you like about it or not like?

I've been all over England and I loved it because it was so charming. I loved being so surrounded by history. Not everything was new and harsh, like it is here. They're also far better drivers than anyone I've yet encountered in Canada. I've also been to different parts of the U.S.

3 - What are your favorite hobbies ?

I love horseback riding and showing, running, playing drums, reading, and film.

4 - Do you have any pets?

I have two horses names Tobasco and Shadow, two cats at home named Boots and Snowy, a cat at my house at school named Ollie, and a fish named Rutherford (his name is a science joke- my roommate has his brother, Bohr).

5 - What makes you happy?

Learning. I want to know everything I possibly can, about every different thing. I think it's a waste if you don't make the most of your opportunities, and I have plenty of them.

6- How can you get away with being online at work?

I'm never online at work, or in class. You might find me online in between classes. This is also when you'll find my friends pretending they're not with me because this whole talking about books thing is embarrassing to them when we're in public haha.

7- What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall?

Biggest achievement was definitely the invention of plastic. I know that sounds generic, but can you imagine a world without plastic? I don't know about biggest downfall...perhaps the invention of the firearm?

8- If you had a long day of hard work ahead of you what music would you be playing on your mp3, while working?

You'd hear mostly punk and indie rock, but there's a little bit of everything I think. You'd definitely find Jimmy Eat World, Paramore, Incubus, Mae, The Alkaline Trio, Samiam, Sparta, Jack's Mannequin, The Clash, The Beatles, The Who, ABBA, Roisin Murphy, Michael Buble, and Earth, Wind & Fire

9- If you could take one book, music album and one video with you to a desert island, what would they be?

Book would be a compilation of Shakespeare, Movie would be The Wizard of Oz, I don't think I could pick a single music album

10- Which actress should play you in a movie based on your life?

If it were possible, Ingrid Bergman

11- What makes you smile? (Activities, people, events, hobbies, projects, etc.)

Having my family all together- we get pretty rowdy; my animals- they all have a lot of personality so they keep me on my toes; my friends- they always find a way to keep me laughing; Food- I really enjoy eating, almost to a fault; anything that smells of citrus, or leather, or old paper

12- What were your favorite things to do the past? What about now?

I used to write all the time. I would come up with all kinds of ideas and write short stories that were never really that short, and I would do it for hours. I stopped though, because it seemed like the more I studied science, the smaller and smaller my imagination got, despite the fact that I do still read often

13- What activities make you lose track of time?

Being in a really good class (I was completely absorbed by my lecture on thermoregulation in exercising horses last week), being at the barn, reading

14- What makes you feel great about yourself?

Learning something new, especially if it's unusual. I have a mind for random pieces of information for which I'll never actually have a use

15- Who inspires you most? (Anyone you know or not. Family, friends, authors, artists, leaders, etc.) Which qualities inspire you, in each person?

My parents, as cliche as that sounds. They’re both genuinely good people who did an amazing job raising four children, who both worked hard at their jobs, and who continue to teach and encourage myself and my siblings in every possible way.

16- What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)

I'm a pretty decent essay writer, a professor told me I have an eye for film, and I'm not too bad with the horses, though that comes with time and work.

17- What do people typically ask you for help in?

Editing papers and questions about Biology

18- If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

English, especially Shakespeare. I wish I could teach people to like reading, and to see appreciate what they read, though I don't know if I would actually be capable of that

19- What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?

I would regret not taking advantage of an opportunity to travel. I haven't seen nearly as much of the world as I would like, and I hope the fact that I have a very set plan for where I would like my life to go and very strong ties to my home and family that I would pass up a chance to explore. Especially Florence. I would LOVE to see Florence.

20- What song is in your head at the moment?

Two, actually. Moondance by Van Morrison and Whoa by Paramore

21- The last book you bought/borrowed from the library?

Do textbooks count? If yes, then Cell and Molecular Biology. If you want a novel, it would have to be The Telling of Lies by Timothy Findley

22- Which book are you reading at the moment?

Persuasion by Jane Austen, The Last of the Crazy People by Timothy Findley, The Gambler by Dostoyevski

23- The last book you finished reading?

I re-read The Silence of The Lambs

    24- Favorite food?/ Comfort food?

    Fresh bread and pumpkin pie

    25- Favorite outfit?

Jeans, a tank top, and bare feet

26- What are you wearing at the moment?

Dark blue skinny jeans, a t-shirt that says "Love is the Key", royal blue suede ballet flats, and a sparkly white ribbon in my hair

    27- Favorite poem?

I actually don't have one. I don't enjoy reading poetry at all

28- First novel you remember reading on your own?

Charlotte's Web. I was extremely young

    29- Favorite TV shows?

House, CSI, ER, The Office, and my new favourite, Numb3rs

30- Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could?

Janine! We've had many a good chat in the movie threads

31- Favorite post on the Forum?

Individual post? I don't think I have one

    32- Favorite thread?

You'll probably find me in the Last Film You Watched and Rate It

33- Last food did you have?

Pizza Pockets (I'm a poor university student!)

34- Last words you said out loud?

"I'm in the way, aren't I?" Four people in our small kitchen and I was the only one not cooking

    35- Last person you hugged/kissed?

I hugged my best friend Erin yesterday. I was thanking her for taking care of me when I wasn't feeling well the other night

36- What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going?

I'm a university student. I'm studying Animal Biology at the University of Guelph. When I do work, I'm a vet assistant at a small animal clinic

37- Are you happy with your chosen profession?

    So far, so good

38- What would you like to be if you could change your profession?

When I graduate I'm hoping to go to vet school and specialize in Equine muscular surgery

    39- Least favorite book/song/movie?

Book: The Red Pony by Steinbeck, don't have a least favourite song, Movie: Phone Booth

40- The most generous thing you have done?

I don't think I have done anything specific whose generosity warrants mention...

41- What is your most outstanding feature?

I think my curly hair. I've been told it's my best physical feature

42- If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?

I hate my nose, but it is the family nose so I guess I really can't get rid of it

43- Which book do you wish you had written?

The Great Gatsby. The Green Eyes just blow my mind

44- What is your favorite book cover?

The Catcher in the Rye first edition cover with the Carousel horse on it

45- Most and least favorite characters from books?

Least favourite- Victor Frankenstein, Most favourite- John Proctor (of The Crucible)

46- What would your biography be titled?

The Crazy Old Cat lady Down the Road.

47- What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?

My chemistry lab report due tomorrow, and my Equine Herpes Virus assignment also due tomorrow

48- Wonderful Superman or depressing Batman?

    Wonder Woman!!

49- The most embarrassing moment in your life?

In my first week of my first year of university I went into the bookstore to buy my textbooks and came out an hour later with a vet textbook that I started reading for fun and just couldn't leave without. I forgot to buy my actual texts...this year when I was buying textbooks I left the store $500 poorer and said "That was fun. We should do that more often"

50- Which literary character (s) have you been told to resemble the most?

I have been compared to Lizzy Bennett but I don't think I'm anywhere close to having that much conviction

51- List some of the things that annoy you immensely.

That's an incredibly long list. I'm really not the tolerant type. Let's see...people who walk too slowly in a crowd, a person who cannot put a full sentence of English together even though it is his or her first language, bad table manners (that's a big one), people who tell me not to use "big words", people who refuse to admit that they are ever wrong, people who wear short skirts and winter boots at the same time (make up your mind!), people who go to lectures and talk the entire time, people who wear sandals in a chemistry lab, people who wear sandals to a horse show...clearly I'm a big people person

52- Anything that you want to forget but you never can?

One situation when I was in the third grade I was really mean to a friend and I've never forgotten it, even though she moved across the country years ago and we lost contact

53- One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?

Not really a word of wisdom, but please keep coming back, because I'm learning a lot from you all!!

54- What would you like to ask to the person to be interviewed after you?

What time of day do you most often find yourself on the LitNet? (I wonder if there are other night owls like me)

*Classic,* I just read your great interview. Cool, now I know a little more about you...great interview; good for you going to school to be a vet surgeon - I am impressed. I was flattered that you named me as the person you wanted most to meet. Who knows, one day we just might. I only live in the US; not like an ocean is between us. I would like to meet you too.

Soon I will try and view "Silence of the Lambs" and Psycho" -think it is about time, don't you? Indeed, we have had some great discussions in the movie thread - I just love that thread so much!

Well, I am definitely a night owl and I know of a couple others on the forum. We should form a 'night owl club!'
