I'm a very peculiar girl... I can be very moody. I don't like going out much but I love shopping. I love the things that I can do at home like DVD marathon, writing and reading. I also love cooking and housekeeping.
Love is a leap of faith...
Hello all!
My name is Nadia but all my friends call me Aidan.
hmm let see, I'm a college student trying to get a degree so that I can take a couple years off and teach english in Japan. From there I would like to travel to neighboring countries, top of the list are Thailand, Tibet, China, Russia, India, and Indonesia. I will decided what to do after that when the time comes.
Now tho I like to occupy my time reading, painting, going to concerts, and hanging out with friends.
My favorite book might be The Count of Monte Cristo or Catcher in the Rye.
favorite movie is either Memento or Fight Club
and favorite bands are Neutral Milk Hotel, Wolf Parade, Interpol, and Joy Division.
I think that might just have to do it.
thank you for your time.
First you have to give up, first you have to *know*... not fear... *know*... that someday you're gonna die.

When I search for information on various literature related subjects on google I invariably wind up here and the discussions I see usually look very interesting and fun, so I've finally decided to register and maybe join in on some of them.
Hello.
Hey, hey, hey!
I was looking for this section as I just finished subscribing. I don't know why, but it seemed kind of rude to just start posting without saying hi to you all.
I found out about this forum searching for an Al. Dumas forum. I really prefer getting informations from people that have actually read his books, than read articles (of course, it depends, but most articles I find on the internet have a really cold approach of his life and work).
I guess I should say something about myself now, right? Well, first I should tell you that English is not my native language, so please excuse my mistakes.
I have started reading quite recently. Of course, I read a lot of books when I was in school, but just typical adventure novels, a lot of Jules Verne, Agatha Cristie and russian writers. Now that I finally subscribed at the town's library I found myself surrounded by books and, being summer, I spend lots of nights reading (I rarely read during daytime). After reading The Count of Monte Cristo, I started searching other Dumas novels. Also SF became one of my favorite types of literature and I spent a lot of money on Asimov novels. But right now I'm looking to extend my preferences and read a larger range of books. So, I guess I'm in the right place, no?
I guess I'm going to see you around the forum so good-bye for now =)

Hi everyone! I've just found this site and thought it would be nice to participate. I am a 56 yr old man, married, 3 sons and live in Florida.
Actually, I am looking for someone who may recognize some books by the description that follows:
These books were juvenile adventure stories published, I would say around 1925. Mu father had 4 of them. The main characters were two homeless boys who, when travelling by train were involved in a train wreck. They were found by a man who was an inventor/adventurer. The boys, of course, ended up travelling with the inventor and his assistant, a black man who had an interesting way of speaking. On one occasion, on their trip to the north pole, he spoke of an eskimo woman as "misquitomexican woman".
The spelling of eskimo in this book was "eskimaux". (or something like that)
If anyone has any idea as to a title or author, I would appreciate the info.
Thanks
So, I'm new to this, just joined today.
Hello everyone.
Looking forward to what this site will bring.

Don't attach yourself to anyone who shows you the least bit of attention because you're lonely. Loneliness is the human condition. No one is ever going to fill that space. The best you can do is know yourself... know what you want.
Hello Everyone!!!!!!!! This is Ruchi, the first time user on this site.......

I am new to this website and although some of the discussion on literature is informed and informative, I do take exception to the infantile presentation of the subject matter.
Why the childish logos for example and the silly names contributors use as pseudonyms.
Even allowing for the fact that the website originated in the USA and most of the contributors are students, one would expect more consideration for the great writers who have given us the books we love to read.
After all, you're either serious about literature or not and, if not, why bother to use the website anyway ?
Literature can be fun without being childish, so let's grow up and show it some respect.
yes hello I am back. I really need to catch up.
Hello, I am new to this site, the forum part anyway, though I am glad I have joined for literature is my first passion and I have been studying it for years (part-time). Others interests include listening to music, drinking beer and sleeping.
Anyway, I hope that I can learn a few things as well as pass a few things on, I have already come across a couple of must read books having just read a few threads. This thing could be dangerous!
Hey!
After having the forum in my bookmarks bar, I've finally decided to join!
I'm a Lit undergrad student, and I'm hoping that I'll get plenty of opportunity to discuss books and critics that I'm studying.
The forum looks active, and the large majority of the discussions have substance, so I'm looking forward to posting!
WELCOME TO LITNET!

Fred Mertz: What's your excuse at sea level?
Fred Mertz: Now what are we supposed to do? Thumb a ride on a passing halibut?
Ricky Ricardo: I can't afford it.
Lucy Ricardo: Those must have been the first English words you learned.
Hello everyone, my name is Zach. I am 25 years old and I live in Northwest Florida. I have been married for three years to my amazing wife Savannah, and eight months ago (12/11/07) she gave birth to our first child, Ethan.
I love to read and am an aspiring author. I also enjoy playing and listening to music, watching good TV shows and movies, and playing video games.
I was homeschooled using a Christian Curriculum. Don't get me wrong, I very much prefered it to public schools and I believe I'm better and smarter for being homeschooled, but the literature we were given to read was Christian in theme and therefore very dull and awful to read. I'm now in the process now of catching up the classics that I feel I missed. Does anyone have a list of important books that I could pick up? Or possibly any recommendations of lesser known works? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
