chances are you won't like it but I thought I'll give it a shot. New age-y and with an interesting intro.
actually I liked it. it's such a beautiful melody, and the violin! Lovely.

These are brilliant (and I envy your having seen her). I really enjoy most of the songs on her album (except for 'Play', which seems kind of pointless...) but these are probably the best.

Along with anything else on the 'Master of Puppets' album.

    My recommendations:
Dream Theater: Under a Glass Moon, Home, Beyond This Life, Learning to Live, Overture 1928, In the Name of God, Blind Faith, Hell's Kitchen, Disappear
Porcupine Tree: Lazarus, Blackest Eyes, Arriving Somewhere...(But Not Here), Trains, Anesthetize, Radioactive Toy
Regina Spektor (seen her twice now - brilliant and quite funny): Samson, Somedays, Us, Summer in the City, Lady
Opeth (very heavy, but quite good): Windowpane, Isolation Years, Harlequin Forest, Damnation, Harvest, Bleak
    Genesis: Mad Man Moon
Flower Kings: Monsters and Men, Pioneers of Aviation
Nightwish: Ghost Love Score, Gethsamane, The Poet and the Pendulum, Come Cover Me
Pink Floyd: Comfortably Numb, Us and Them
Rush: 2112, The Spirit of Radio, Red Barchetta, YYZ, The Trees
Ayreon: Age of Shadows, Beneath the Waves

    Album: Places Like This
    Songs I like: Lazy
    Heart It Races
    Nothing's Wrong
    Debbie

I really like their music, it's different, worth a listen to at least I think.

    Gym Class Heroes
Albums: As Cruel As School Children
    The Papercut Chronicles
    For The Kids

    Songs I like: Cupid's Chokehold
    Shoot Down The Stars
    Faces In The Hall
    A Beautiful Day

I just really like them, and they've got a new album out this year!!

    Sick Puppies
    Album: Dressed Up As Life
Songs I like: All The Same (Free Hugs)
    Anywhere But Here
    Deliverence
    Too Many Words

This is one of my all time favourite bands, and I've already introduced a few friends to their music

    30 Seconds To Mars
    Albums: 30 Seconds To Mars
    A Beautiful Lie

    Songs I like: Attack
    Oblivion
    The Mission
    Capricorn

Awesome stuff... Some of their songs are great just to scream along with when you've got heaps of anger or energy

Some people have mentioned Michael Jacksons Beat It and I love that song and I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned the cover of it by Fall Out Boy. I really really really like Fall Out Boy and John Mayers version of it...

Foals, The Horrors and Chris T-T are great to get into if you have a diverse taste in music. Classic artists like The Smiths and The Cure are a must have too, as well as Joy Division if you're feeling particularly miserable :P Indie artists like The Clik Clik and Kings of Leon are also great too.

Since I got you into DEVO, let me get you into something similar, that you might like even more, even.

If you like DEVO, and if you like Japan, you should listen to POLYSICS.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYE8vPl4IaY (Polysics live London 2006-I love this performance especially at about a minute into it.)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbfmWJBl6Qg (My favorite Polysics song)

I think I might have told you about them before. Oh well, ha ha.

They're also perfect for annoying your parents. I just wish I knew what they were saying!

    Oh yeeeaahhhhh.

The one time my memory fails me! It never does, usually.

Actually, I was about half sure I had told you about them...so I decided to tell you again just in case.

So my memory only half failed me!

You should check out this band I've just recently been introduced too. They're a Swedish band named "Melpo Mene"

I'm absolutely in love with their music, it's quite different...

Oh yeah, I love Polysics' take on Psycho Therapy by the Ramones, too. It's cool. "Psycho serapee, psycho serapee...I'm gunna boogurize your home."

They are so DEVO that sometimes it scares me. They even move like them...I like it. Kewl.
