    Happy Birthday, our great Maddie!
The source of any bad writing is the desire to be something more than a person of sense--the straining to be thought a genius. If people would say what they have to say in plain terms, how much eloquent they would be.

Happy Birthday, Madhuri! Hope today marks the beginning of a great year!

    Here is Madhuri's interview:

1 - How did you come about this site and what makes you keep coming back?

While searching for the Othello, as one of the Indian movies is based on that story, and I wanted to know the real version.

I visit the site because of the people I met here; they gave me a very warm welcome, and all those I have interacted with so far are very very nice .

Initially it was only for the story, now, its for the people.

2 - Have you visited other countries than your own and what did you like about it or not like?

    I have visited Thailand.

I liked that every street has so many massage parlours that offer a lot of variety. There was a show that I went to (forgotten its name), where all men dressed up as women and performed. Believe me, no one was able to make that out, and their presentation was very good.

I went to Pattaya beach, and saw sea for the first time; it was awesome. If I have to live there I can see a major food problem for me; I don’t know, really, how people pick live crabs, lobsters and ask the restaurant to cook it . The street markets have stalls for the sea food, and because I was not used to such markets, I thought those corners smelt all the time.

3 - What are your favorite hobbies ?

Well, if I had my way, I would simply lie on my terrace and gaze stars And, during the day I will sleep and dream I am very lazy

4 - Do you have any pets?

No. I had one dog and that was loooooong back; his name was Tiny.

    5. How can you get away with being online at work?

As long as I do my job, no one is really bothered. But, when I have a lot of work I take a break by visiting the site and playing Word Association

    6. If you could take one book, music album and one video with you to a desert island, what would they be?

I admit, a book will be the last thing that I will take with me. I think I will be taking my camera, and only after I am tired of taking pictures of every nook and corner, will I think of reading a book.  Music will mostly be Hindi songs. No videos.

    7. Which actress should play you in a movie based on your life?

That will be an Indian actress named Smita Patil.

    8. What makes you smile? (Activities, people, events, hobbies, projects, etc.)

I am not a smiling person, in real life. I am those serious looking people who cannot crack even a silly PJ Yeah, I know, I am very boring.

People bring smile to my face, especially those who are jolly by nature; that can make the whole environment positive, energetic, and lively.

    9. What were your favorite things to do the past? What about now?

I used to read novels hidden inside my text books, which was my favourite thing to do. Other than that, I used to paint, and do other arts and crafts activities.

These days, I like travelling, exercising, reading (I am a slow reader).

    10. What activities make you lose track of time?

    My work.

No leisure activities help me lose track of time. I cant afford it. I wish I could indulge in that luxury, but, that is a thing of the past, now.

    11. Who inspires you most? (Anyone you know or not. Family, friends, authors, artists, leaders, etc.) Which qualities inspire you, in each person?

I cant name a person, but the qualities that impress me are – positivity, confidence, people who see the glass half full.

I don’t like being around people who over-analyse things, go deeper and make things appear depressing and non-achievable.

    12. What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)

People management. I think I have good listening capability. People can confide in me and trust that their secret will be safe with me.

    13. What do people typically ask you for help in?

Money and to be the Agony Aunt sometimes.

    14. If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

Anything in Computer Science or Philosophy (which I will have to study myself). It wont be successful, as I am not a great speaker, and I presume most of the students will be sleeping in my class

    15. What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?

Not travelling. I have to see 1000 places before I die.

    16. The last book you bought/borrowed from the library?

Tess of the d’Urbervilles – Thomas Hardy

    17. Which book are you reading at the moment?

Tess of the d’Urbervilles – Thomas Hardy

    18. The last book you finished reading?

One night at the call center – Chetan Bhagat
A best seller category book, not a good read.

Favourite – All Indian dishes, sometimes Chinese.

Comfort food – fried and spicy Indian snacks and chocolates.

    20. Favorite outfit?

Comfortable – Jeans and t-shirt, shorts and skirts

    22. Favorite poem?

Niamh, MissT, NightShade, ShoutGrace, B-mental, Virgil, Lote, Pendragon, Kiz, Shalot, Kathy, Mtpspur, Pensive, Mom-H, mhockenberry, Claes, Aimus, Sleepy.

    25. Favorite thread?

King of the Hill; Questions Only

    26. Last food did you have?

Fried potato; Paratha (Indian bread); Raita (Yoghurt)

    27. What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going?

Working as a Senior Software Engineer in a Services company, in the IT sector. My profile involves documenting – Procedures, Marketing collaterals, Quality related documents, Help manuals, etc.

    28. Are you happy with your chosen profession?

    Yes.

    29. What would you like to be if you could change your profession?

A researcher – going on expeditions like those shown on Discovery, seeing caves, pyramids and excavating civilizations; they are able to access areas where normal people are not allowed. Making discoveries

A photographer or Cameraperson -- Visit National parks, make animal movies; I simple love the way the camera person takes the shots, the perfect kill, the perfect race for survival, the under-water photography; its simply amazing

    30. What is your most outstanding feature?

Hair. Because, I get compliments for my hair only.

    31. If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?

Nothing, really. But, If I had to pick then it will wither be my nose (its like a big potato) or lips (too thick).

    32. What is your favorite book cover?

An interesting one was of – Kite Runner

    33. What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?

Watching a movie and eating sweets. Ummmm....I feel like having tea right now.

    34. Wonderful Superman or depressing Batman?

Wonderful Batman (yeah, I am greedy ) I like the Batman outfit. I never understood why some superheroes have to wear their innerwear outside

    Happy Birthday, Madhuri!

It was very nice reading your interview, and you are not at all boring! The Road Not Taken happens to be one of my favourite poems too. And goodluck with Tess of D"Urbervilles! I remember liking it (though for some reason I preferred Hardy's other novel The Mayor of Casterbridge) and I hope you enjoy it too.
