    Guten Tag

Hi all, just like to introduce myself.

I'll go by the name "Vertrauen" because I think my real name is so uninteresting. I'm a 20 year old girl from Germany who loves, loves to read and would be very glad to discuss literature of any sort. I like the novel the most out of all literary genres, but I also enjoy poetry and some drama. I especially like the old Germanic epics such as the Nibelungenlied and the Ring cycle of Wagner. English and Irish literature are a passion of mine as well. And yes, I love Lord of the Rings and Narnia, though I wouldn't say they're my favorite books. I'm working toward a career in journalism (I live in the US now), and have a very adventurous spirit I would love to discuss literature with other literary junkies out there, so that's why I joined.

    Hoi Jaap! Welcome back then..
I also lived in Holland for quite a long time. The cold, rainy weather was to me the only negative side of the country

    Smile Another newbie

My name is Megan, and I am so excited to be here. I've loved reading my whole life. I've just started the English Lit program at my college, so now I read even more. I also work at a library, so I am around books all the time. I'm so happy to find a message board full of people like me.

Hello! When I first joined I meant to introduce myself but didn't know where to do it. But now I've found the place.
My (fake) name is Annabel Lee, and I live in the Mid Eastern US, but my heart is with the ocean.
Hobbies (or what I love): reading, writing, music, and traveling.

For starters I'm a very passionate and expressive person. I express myself mostly through writing and music.
Since I express myself through writing, I wish I could do more of it. But for some reason I can't write whenever I want, I have to be particularly inspired about something. I can't just sit down and make myself write a poem.

I love music!!! No matter what I'm doing, I always have music in the back ground. I could probably write a book about my life, and write the soundtrack to go with it.

When it comes to reading I read mostly poetry; my favorite poets being William Wordsworth, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allen Poe, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning... just to name a few. And I try to read as many novels as I can. My favorite books would be Moonrakers Bride, The Count Of Monte Cristo, Pride And Prejudice, Tregaron's Daughter, and The Three Musketeers... just to name a few.

And when it comes to traveling, all I can say is that I wish I could do more of it. I'm a seafarer, living in a landlocked world, surrounded by grass (unless I go to a nasty lake).

Well I think that covers just about everything. Oh wait, I also love studying History and Geography.

    HI!

For now I'll go by the name of Beatrix because really, old fashioned English names make me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I think I may be one of the younger members here (just from what I've read) so apologies if I say something incredibly idiotic. When I find a good fantasy Novel I'll re read it 50 times, however, as there seem to be very few of them out there in the world I usually pick one up read half of it and hide it under my bed in the vain hope that the black hole under there that steals my socks will do the crappy excuse for literature the same courtesy.

When I can't find decent Science fiction or Fantasy novels I usually read, Jane Austen because I'm a teenaged girl and that's what we do. I'm also currently trudging through Les Miserables which has moments of plotted character based happiness and equal amounts of long winded historically based drudgery and because I've been given millions of lectures I'm stubbornly reading the historical bits.

Oh well that's all I really have to say.

    Tata!

    Hi I'm Elizabeth

I've just joined primarily to talk about Wuthering Heights as I have had an on-again off-again obsession with it since I was little. I was also lucky enough to study it at 3 times during my education as it was on the syllabus for GCSEs (taken at 16), A-Levels (taken at 18) and the first year of my degree (first year taken at 20). It's time to do it again (I'm 34) and this time I'm thinking of doing something creative with it.

So far I have read Juliet Barker's excellent and lengthy biography of the Brontes and next I am going to watch the 90s film, then I shall start reading the novel whilst creating artworks based on it. This time I have no deadlines or exams so it's more fun and I can go down any avenue I want.

Apart from that I mainly read science fiction and detective novels as I consider that I paid my dues reading high lit during my education years and rarely feel the need to read anything else. However I have recently started reading the odd poem and enjoying it for the first time. I recommend the London Underground Poem collections as shown in this link http://www.britishcouncil.org/arts-l...nderground.htm

I also like Emily Dickinson and Poe! Haven't read much of the others though.

Hi Caspian! I am sure many like Austen but I have seriously seen some teenaged girls hating Pride and Prejudice as well! Oh no, I am not one of them though. Mr. Bennet and Elizabeth Bennet's wit made the novel very interesting I think alongside with some other characters.
I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew.

    Welcome everyone!
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.
