Third time's the charm ... but, I'm going to need the Colbert bump for Winesburg, Ohio.

It seems very apparent which book is going to win. I can't wait to start readingggg (I didn't want to get ahead of myself).
"It is when the feet weary and hope seems vain that the heartaches and the longings arise. Know, then, that for you is neither surfeit nor content. In your rocking chair, by your window dreaming, shall you long, alone. In your rocking chair, by your window, shall you dream such happiness as you may never feel."

Hopefully I can finish Molloy this weekend, so I can get started on the winner.

In terms of American authors of novels, how about some patriotic novels like
Once an Eagle by Anton Myrer
From Here to Eternity by James Jones
The Thin Red Line by James Jones
Run Silent, Run Deep by Edward Latimer Beach
The Caine Mutiny: A Novel by Herman Wouk
    Battle Cry by Leon Uris

These are very appropriate for remembering what the Fourth of July is about - our Independence, our growth into a country.

Are you trying to say Ken Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is not a patriotic book?
