Sunday Morning Coming Down ... Johhny Cash

    (Love that song!!)

C'est La Vie was recorded by Emerson Lake & Palmer (beautiful!)

I was once like you are now, and I know that it's not easy,
To be calm when you've found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything you've got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.
Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty
    ~Albert Einstein

    Cat Stevens~ Father and Son

This will all fall down like everything else that was
This too shall pass and all of the words we said
    We can't take back
Now every fool in town would've left by now
I can't replace all the wasted days
The memory of your face, I can't help thinkin
"I don't know whether your grasp of theology or meteorology is more appalling.
I guess I'll go light some candles around the tobaggon and beg for mercy."
    ~Bill Watterson

"In certain times, trying times, desperate times, profanity offers a relief denied even to prayer."
    ~Mark Twain

"A melancholy-looking man, he had the appearance of someone who had searched for the leak in life's gas pipe with a lighted candle"

Last Beautiful Girl ~ Matchbox 20

Close your eyes and bow your head
    I need a little sympathy
Cause fear is strong and love's for everyone
    Who isn't me
So kill your health and kill yourself
    And kill everything you love
And if you live you can fall to pieces
    And suffer with my ghost
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Um, no. Sorry, two very different songs, althought I like Johnny Cash's song also. The song is this:

    Eagles - The Last Resort

    She came from Providence,
    the one in Rhode Island
Where the old world shadows hang
    heavy in the air
She packed her hopes and dreams
    like a refugee
Just as her father came across the sea

She heard about a place people were smilin'
They spoke about the red man's way,
and how they loved the land
    And they came from everywhere
    to the Great Divide
    Seeking a place to stand
    or a place to hide

    Down in the crowded bars,
    out for a good time,
Can't wait to tell you all,
    what it's like up there
    And they called it paradise
    I don't know why
    Somebody laid the mountains low
    while the town got high

Then the chilly winds blew down
    Across the desert
through the canyons of the coast, to
    the Malibu
    Where the pretty people play,
    hungry for power
    to light their neon way
and give them things to do

Some rich men came and raped the land,
    Nobody caught 'em
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and
    Jesus' people bought 'em
    And they called it paradise
    The place to be
They watched the hazy sun, sinking in the sea

You can leave it all behind
    and sail to Lahaina
just like the missionaries did, so many years ago
They even brought a neon sign: "Jesus is coming"
Brought the white man's burden down
    Brought the white man's reign

Who will provide the grand design?
What is yours and what is mine?
'Cause there is no more new frontier
We have got to make it here
We satisfy our endless needs and
    justify our bloody deeds,
in the name of destiny and the name of God

And you can see them there,
    On Sunday morning
They stand up and sing about
    what it's like up there
    They call it paradise
    I don't know why
    You call someplace paradise,
    kiss it goodbye

Idril's is Soundgarden's Burden in My Hand (Googled)

It was just another story written on the second page
    Underneath the Tiger's football score
It said he was only eighteen, a boy about my age
They found him face down on the bedroom floor
There'll be services on Friday at the Lawrence Funeral Home
Then out on Mooresville highway, they'll lay him 'neath a stone...
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

How Do You Get That Lonely - Larsen Blaine

God bless Mother Nature, she's a single woman too
She took off to heaven and she did what she had to do
She taught every angel to rearrange the sky
So that each and every woman could find her perfect guy

It's Raining Men ~ The Weather Girls

She's my baby, Ain't that something
But I know she belongs to you
Yesterday was another day, when I,
Saw your baby, walkin' home alone
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Mazzy Star ~ She's My Baby (Goggled)

    Every day's an endless stream
    Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me
    The movies and the factories
And every stranger's face I see
Reminds me that I long to be
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

Homeward Bound ~ Simon and Garfunkel...that is a great song, Pen.

So this aint the end -
    I saw you again today
I had to turn my heart away
    Smiled like the sun -
    Kisses for real
And tales - it never fails!
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

    Barracuda ~ Heart

Somebody said he came from New Orleans
Where he got in a fight over a Cajun Queen
And a crashin' blow from a huge right hand
Sent a Louisiana fellow to the Promised Land Big John

Big Band John - Jimmy Dean

Music knows it is and always will
Be one of the things that life just won't quit
But here are some of music's pioneers
That time will not allow us to forget

Oh, I loved that song when I was a kid, Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder I think it was.

    I got it bad
you don't know how bad I got it.
    You got it easy
you don't know when you've got it good.
    It's getting harder
just keeping life and soul together
I'm sick of fighting even though I know I should.

porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable

Wouldn't It Be Good ~ Nik Kershaw

(Hey, Grover, that's Big Bad John!)
Here they come down main street, drums a flailin' and the sirens a wailin', what a roar
Bands are a playin' and flags are a waivin, and the Vanguard's and Motorcycle Corps
Clowns are a clownin' to the crowd and pinchin' every pretty girl who dares to smile
It's a glorious mess, everybody wears a fez the parade stretches out for a mile
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...
