For Whom The Bell Tolls - Metallica

Fun Forum Fact: Papayahed used this song--with the same choice of lyrics--on the very first page of this thread. It is so sad that I know this.

So let it rock, let it roll
Let the bible belt come and save my soul
Hold on to 16 as long as you can
Changes come around real soon, make us women and men

Jack and Diane ~ John Cougar...Mellencamp...I don't know what he was going by at the time, I think both.

Half moon in the sky tonight, bright enough
to come up with an answer
to the question why is it that every time I see you
my love grows a little stronger
But your memory leaves my stomach churning,
feeling like a lie about to be revealed
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

The Caution Horses ~ The Sun Comes Up (It's Tuesday Morning)

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

Concrete Angel by Martina McBride... damn my friends!

You're close but not quite. The Caution Horses is the album the song is from and The Sun Comes Up... is a different song from that disc but the song I was looking for was Cause Cheap Is How I Feel and it's by the Cowboy Junkies.

    Big Wave ~ Pearl Jam

    I left a man
    Asleep in the nude
    name in my pocket
    With lipstick and rouge
    Everything I ever wanted,
What a lovely pie you baked,
    Is anybody listening
Don't the painted birds ever fly away
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

    Ordinary Morning - Sheryl Crow

And on the bus today, I met the queen of L.A.
At least she said she was and who am I to say?
She was sixty-five and full of life,
    She had purple-painted cheeks
    And glitter on her eyes
And the troll on the corner, I flipped him a quarter
And he looked at me and smiled.

Still In Hollywood ~ Concrete Blonde

I was working part time in a five-and-dime
    My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
    'Cause I was a bit 2 leisurely
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

    Raspberry Beret - Prince

But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible,
    Logical, responsible, practical.
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable,
    Clinical, intellectual, cynical.

Oh, I loved that song once upon a time, haven't heard it for ages though...Logical Song by Supertramp, at least that's the version I remember.

I don't mind you comin' here
    and wastin' all my time
'cause when you're standin' oh so near
    I kinda lose my mind
it's not the perfume that you wear
it's not the ribbons in your hair
I don't mind you comin' here
    and wastin' all my time
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Summer Of '69 - Bryan Adams

Two drifters off to see the world
    There's such a lot of world to see;
We're after the same rainbow's end
    Waiting round the band....

The right band, the wrong song. It's Just What I Needed.

And yours is Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams.

I'll put a spell on you,
    You'll fall asleep,
I'll put a spell on you,
    And when I wake you,
I'll be the first thing you see,
And you'll realise that you love me.

Aqualung ~ Strange & Beautiful (Use it for a jeans comercial now!)

Left a good job in the city,
Working for The Man every night and day,
And I never lost one minute of sleeping,
Worrying 'bout the way things might have been.

    Proud mary-- tina turner

So now I'm praying for the end of time
    To hurry up and arrive
Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you!!!
My mission in life is to make YOU smile

Paradise by the Dashboard Light - Meatloaf

Tell sanchito that if he knows what is good for him
He best go run and hide
    Daddy's got a new .45
    And I won't think twice
To stick that barrel straight down sancho's throat
Believe me when I say that I got something for his punk-***
